It is located about 10 km (6.2 mi) west from the city of Chania and east of Kastelli-Kissamos, on Chania Bay. The seat of the municipality is the village Gerani. Platanias is a popular tourism village with a beach, several hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops. Not far from the coast is the island of Agioi Theodoroi.

We found the entrance to this restaurant just off the main strip. There is a allergen menu which is unusual for Crete. Most dishes are gluten free. It's a fair climb up the hill to the actual restaurant. It does offer a great view over the town and of the sunset. I had the baked potato starter. It was 2 baked potatoes with garlic butter for just â¬2.50. 2 of us had the chicken fillets main with curry or chilli sauce. We enjoyed them. My wife had the beef stiflado and also enjoyed it. The bill took a long time to arrive. We got complementary yogurts and fruity raki.Thank you very much for your opinion and for righting about us...We look forward to seeing you again soon and we trying for the best....Thank you!

My friend & I walked past the pleasant looking hotel to the beach-side restaurant. The view is good, overlooking a pleasant stretch of beach. The waitress came over as we sat down & apparently asked if we wanted to eat - we misunderstood & ordered drinks. We asked for the menu & she said, " I asked if you wanted to eat & you said no!". She was most unpleasant, & then proceeded to try to clip a paper tablecloth in place. We ordered garlic bread - it was most unappetizing. After reading the other reviews, she must have been having a bad day! We wouldn't go back or recommend.

A nice and buzzing restaurant overlooking the water. The building is a beautiful townhouse converted to provide dining on all floors and lots of tables outside at ground floor. It is definitely worth booking in advance and requesting one of the tables on the first floor balcony which is private and overlooks the water, it makes a special occasion. Otherwise the roof provides a great outside dining experience.Overall the food was good and priced about right.

I do not have enough words to describe this restaurant.The food is amazing and carefully cooked.But what gives you that little extra is the staff!To really feel welcome, both for breakfast and lunch and dinner.Only that gets you coming back day after day.We highly recommend this restaurant.

This was one of the best dining experiences of Cretan home cooking we have experienced. The food was fresh, presented well and delicious. The staff were professional, friendly and attentive. Disappointed that we did not find Drosia earlier in our stay.

This place is perfect for al fresco dining and the views over Platanias are breathtaking. It gets crowded just before sunset because the spectacle is mesmerizing. The food is exceptional too - all Cretan, traditional, made from scratch. It's a family restaurant, with a long-standing tradition. Service is more than friendly and they are very accommodating. Besides the usual sweet treats at the end of the meal, we received a surprise dessert for our little boy who celebrated his 10th birthday that evening: ice cream coppa with fireworks. Check out their wine list too - all Greek wines - and ask for recommendations if you are not sure what to order.

We visited yesterday, and what a great restaurant this is......well worth the "climb up the hill".Really lovely setting and friendly staff who did not oversell, and let's not forget fantastically tasty food...Believe all the other positive reviews, this place deserves it's position as the best local restaurant.The only negative on the day for us, and in fairness it could (and does) happen anywhere, was that table of 5 sat next to us as we were finishing and all 5 lit up cigarettes with no consideration to others that included a family with small children.Definitely recommended, and we hope to visit again during our stay.
