While visiting my nephew, a colleague of his suggested we try this place for lunch. When we arrived, we were impressed with the place, a beautifully-restored cannery boatyard on the Astoria riverfront. I was debating between two items on the menu, and asked the waiter for advice, ending with the Dungeness Crab-Avocado Toast, as per his suggestion, saying it was a big seller. The description looked interesting: Avocado-lime salad topped with 3 oz. fresh crab; on toasted house-made French bread. The service was really slow, and yet the place was almost empty. When my plate finally arrived, disappointment could not justify it; a 2-3inch piece of dried french bread with a dab of avocado (don't know where the salad was), topped with fresh crab. No dressing, nothing else. All three of us were looking at my supposedly a big seller??? It was gone in two bites, and I was starving!!! I ended ordering a caesar salad since there was not even a leaf with my famous toast. Top top it off, they even messed that one up too, very plain Jane, lettuce and croutons and a dab of dressing. When I mentioned my disappointment to the waiter, it seemed to just fly over his head. My husband and nephew enjoyed their sandwich and clam chowder, but we were not impressed with our waiter, slow and careless. When you spend $100 for lunch which only included 1 beer, you expect so much more. By the way, my crab/avocado toast cost was $20.Thank you for taking the time to share your disappointment with your recent lunch. The crab and avocado toast is, in fact, a big seller for us, and is usually prepared as a very substantial dish with many elements which make it difficult to eat in just two bites. I'm not sure why yours was prepared differently - our chef will look into it with his staff. Please email me directly ([email protected]) with an address so I can send you a refund. I'm glad your husband and nephew enjoyed their meals and hope you will give us the benefit of the doubt and allow us to serve you a better meal in the future.

My wife and I stopped in again for lunch. We chose to sit on the first floor this time as we had lunch on the second floor the last time we visited. The menus are different on each floor, so it just depends what you are after they particular day. Upstairs menu is pizza based with salads. The pizza is cooked in their wood fired pizza oven. They use Oregon oak to keep the pizza oven temperature consistent at 600-700 degrees. The pizzas are very good. Downstairs menu is hamburger, sandwich and taco based. I had the pulled pork Sweet Caroline sandwich was very flavorful. They have a full list of beers and wines available on both floors. Good service, good food and an overall good stop anytime you are in the area.
