Kalas Moraira

In Kalas the main focus is on food. We have based our menu on the best products from local farmers and fresh fish. Our intention is to keep the origin Mediterranean food but let the modern way of cooking reflect in our dishes.

We have eaten correctly (local food and home made) but we haven’t appreciate their dishonesty. Menu of tapas for 2 : we order 1 menu for 3 people. I have explain that we don’t need more because we prefert to take a dessert of their carte. Finaly on the bill, they count 1 /2 menu and more (+15€). Other surprise :Mojito 9€ (not so good)Orange juice without alcohol 5€ (lot of ice)We would first like to thank you for visiting us at Kalas Moraira. We would also like to clear a few things up. Let's start with;TAPAS MENU 30 € for 2 people. Our apologies if the concept of our tapas menu wasn't clear for you but as said on the menu and on our website, the price per person is 15 €, this means that if you are 2 people you pay the 30€, if you are 3 people you pay 45 €.. It's dissapointing to hear that you didn't enjoy our mojito, we wish you would have told us straight away so we could have solved this problem. As for the "orange juice", you did ordered a non alcoholic cocktail and it had the following ingredients; Pinapple Juice, Orange Juice, Yuzu and grenadie we shake it and decorate it with dried orange wheel ( the orange wheel takes 8 hours to dry and is home made) We do also have fresh orange juice which we sell for 2,5 a glass. We would've loved to help you out on the same evening, for the future we do recommend if you are not satisfied with something at any restaurant you communicate this to the staff so they can help solve the problem. We want all out guests to leave content and we do our best to achieve that.We hope to see you again in the future and that you leave with a different experience.Kind regards, Kalas Crew

Again the scoring system on Tripadvisor doesn’t allow me to give a GOOD rating which is really the rating I want to give this restaurant however I can’t bring myself to award a very good rating and therefore average is rating. This restaurant has a beautiful rustic interior with lovely dining areas highlighting the history of the building as a farmhouse, you can dine in a wonderful area that was previously used to feed the animals complete with feeding through in situ. Where the restaurant fails a little is with the food, the cod croquettes had the minimum of fish and tasted of little more than mashed potatoes I actually joked with my table that the closest the croquettes came to cod was when they were placed side by side in the fridge, we also found a couple of shrivelled slices of cucumber in our salad, just like you would find if you cut a cucumber and left it in the fridge that first slice that I would certainly discard and not serve. As for the steaks they were fine but I’ve had better at a similar price. Whilst it is a very challenging time for restaurants in general and the building is prime for some really special food offering perhaps the clients are not available, a pity really. The staff and service was very good.
