We stayed in the guest house attached to this restaurant immediately after Christmas 2011. We visited the restaurant three times and on each occasion were very impressed with the choice, the service and most importantly the food. The trout was particularly good. Prices are reasonable, although not cheap reflecting the quality of the food. A great experience and easy to recommend.

This is a lovely little café situated on the “balcony” of Meissen, in the shadow of the cathedral. The tables on the terrace overlook the whole valley and provide a wonderful spot to take in the scenery. The menu concentrates on cakes and light dishes, all quite delicious. Service is absolutely charming.

Locared in a historic wood beamed yellow house perched on a main square in Meissen, Restaurant Vincenz Richter offers a picturesque, authentic German dining experience. The Richter family has operated this landmark restaurant since 1873. The dining room is decorated with medieval armor and weapons, antique copper cooking implements and during our visit in the Easter season, fresh flowers and pastel Easter eggs. The interior courtyard is worth taking in, too. Since we were on a Viking land excursion, our time in Meissen was very limited, so we enjoyed a relaxing late afternoon glass of unique Meissen wine. The Muller-Thurgau and the Traminer were excellent.

We have bumped into this place after a walk through Meissen´s old-town and the climb to Albrechtsburg castle. It was raining a littlle and we were looking for a quiet little pub (restaurant) to dry-up, eat and have a good local beer. All of this has been accomplished in this cozy little place on the main Marktplatz. No wonder it has such a high ranking on the TripAdvisor. It deserves it and is definitely highly recommended.

As we were walking down the cobbled roads towards Elbe, we chanced upon this restaurant and decided to have our lunch. The lady waitress guided us to have dark beer and Meissen wine for my wife. For food we had a German Schnitzel which had an egg with the sunny side up and a beef preparation. The best part of our visit is when we suddenly saw lots of vintage cars being driven around. The food was good and we enjoyed our meal.

Cozy restaurant and guesthouse, few minutes away from the historic city centre of Meissen, right next to the Elbe river cycle path.

We had lunch here as part of a group on the Viking "Park-and-Ride" (a river cruise that wasn't cruising, but was using buses instead). The schnitzel was good, but the restaurant was uncomfortably warm. It was in the mid to high 90s Fahrenheit, and the restaurant has no air conditioning.

We had lunch at the Ratskeller in Meissen today. My wife had chanterelles in a cream sauce with here pasta, and I had a sauerbraten with "gebratene" potatoes. Both were very good, and were especially tasty because of the Old German atmosphere - quite nice!

Its difficult to review this one. With the sauces and extra chillis they very obligingly put on the table the food was good. Without this, utterly bland. We had the chilli chicken (not spicy at all), chicken jalfrezi and tandoori paneer. All very very lightly spiced. If you ever have been to Asia, you are going to need the extra spices. Once that has been accomplished, the food is ok. The service is excellent though. And right opposite is.. The cake place Zieger..;-)

Domkeller is an excellent restaurant within the precincts of old Meissen across from the new (13th century) Cathedral. They offer delicious traditional German cuisine and an excellent selection of beer and Saxon wines in a casual setting. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal thoroughly. I had the roast goose with red cabbage and a large potato dumpling, which was very satisfying. My wife's venison was excellent and came with the best Brussels sprouts that she had ever tasted. We paired our lunch with one of our favorite white wines: the excellent Schloss Proschwitz Grauburgunder which is made in Saxony. The service was friendly, and acceptable for casual dining. The restaurant is located in a very old house with wonderful character and a lovely view over Meissen from the dining room.
