Very much enjoyed our meal of salade Périgord. The salad is a meal in itself and includes duck, goose livers, and paté. Filling, plus it gave us the greens we’ve been craving. Local friends recommended this place. It has its own patio and is not on the sidewalk like many side street restaurants are. Good place for kids and puppies too. Waiters are efficient and gracious.

We booked for dinner and took some friends along only going on the recommendation of a local. The town is a tourist mecca so I was a bit dubious.....however I was pleasantly surprised. There is dining both inside and outside - we opted to eat in as it was getting a little chilly. The staff were very nice and helpful and the food was not a disappointment at all. It is a bit of a hidden gem in reality and really beautiful. Would book via phone or going to the place before and make a booking there. Would happily return.

Lo Gorissado

Wanted non tourist place, typically French.Found it.Arrived 15 minutes early and were suitably chastised by grim waitress, the only one there. Sat outside under awning full of water next to plastic bucket with dying weeds in. This sat next to a climbing rose 50% of which was dead. . The wall of the dining room was exposed chipboard stuck all round with polystyrene expanding glue. Above us strung under the awning full of water hung a string of light bulbs, most of them blown.A party of 4 came and left straight away ,then 7 came in , sat down and then got up and left. It was strangely entertaining. The remaining customers spoke in hushed tones waiting to be served. I asked for vodka tonic, no vodka, no gin , no tonic., ok water. We both had salt cod starter, strong on salt! Then we had pork. The pork was cooked ok, nearly as nice as I have at home . The accompanying variety of exotic vegetables and flowers were not to my taste, but what do I know.It was expensive, devoid of ambience , shabby and I was sad that I had taken my dear wife hear thinking it might be special.

Gueule et Gosier is a great find, tucked away on a side-street in Sarlat-la-Canéda. We were surprised with the quality of the food, great presentation and wide range of options. The duck appetiser was simply amazing. Duck pie and Pork Belly was also excellent. The seating is on the side street on either side of the side walk - so expect some pedestrian traffic walking through. Although, with the surrounding buildings, the dinner setting was still in a nice ambiance.Service was friendly and fast. We were a table of seven and all food was delivered together in a timely fashion.Overall, highly enjoyed our dinner experience here!

We had lunch at this restaurant twice during our 10 day visit to the Dordogne region. The omelets and salads were excellent, as was the rose wine. Service was very efficient and friendly. We would not hesitate to return.

We were lucky to get a table as we arrived without booking and although it was right at the start of service there was a queue of customers. In spite of being busy the food and service were excellent and although some of the dishes on the 26 Euro menu that we chose were standard Sarlat fare they were served with a twist to make them special.

Lacombe Michel

Ferme Lacombe was an unexpected discovery while driving through the Dordogne. It is an unassuming, small and very homely restaurant but it serves the best canard confit and pommes de terres salardaises! It was a truly delicious meal and SO satisfying. We could hear Madame in the kitchen working away and she popped her head out every so often to converse with the (mainly French customers - always a good sign) and then the food arrived. The duck was moist and tasty and large enough to satisfy even my husband's large appetite and the potatoes cooked in the local style (in duck fat) were superb. It was a great meal (with a salad on the side) made from their own farm produce and cooked in the very best traditional manner. It was a memorable meal for all the right reasons and definitely worth a roadside stop (it's a simple brick building about 11 km outside Sarlat on the way to Les Eyzies).

Gourmet experience from beginning to end. We were seated at a beautiful table and served complimentary appetizers. We ordered a 3-course and 4-course dinner, respectively. The Foie Gras was excellent and clearly of high quality. The cod/langoustine quenelles were also cooked to perfection and wonderfully presented, and was my wife’s tuna. My main meat course was pigeon, also prepared in a creative manner. Both mine and my wife’s desserts were well balanced and wonderfully arranged. We a two nice half bottles of local wine, a white and a red, both nicely paired with the food. Service was absolutely impeccable and friendly, and the chef/owner came running after us when we left to thank us personally. Highly recommended.

I can understand why this nice casual, and relaxed, restaurant ranks highly on Trip Advisor. But, it is not to be compared on same basis as some of the restaurants in town offering fuller menus and wider choice. That said, if you want a truly flavorsome lunch or simple dinner, don't overlook La Cremerie. The day we visited for lunch, the menu of the day offered vegetable samosas and they were superb. And the wine by the glass was excellent. The team that run it have such a friendly, smiling approach too. Check it out. It is not in the heart of the old town, but only a short walk away, and worth making the effort to go there.
