The concept behind this restaurant is simple and works. The farm raises ducks and you can eat on site in a small, welcoming restaurant that transforms this quality product into delicious dishes. Essentially your starter is a generous slice of home-produced foie gras followed by a piece of duck cooked in whatever way takes your fancy (confit, magret, kebab, andouillette ...). They have a surprisingly broad selection of cheeses on the cheese platter followed by classic home made desserts (creme caramel, creme brulee etc). The wines are good and very reasonably priced (we had the vin noir). In winter you dine in front of a crackling open fire, in summer in the courtyard garden. The owner also has a very attractive shop selling all sorts of things for the home. Delicieux! Booking essential.

After may expensive meals we were looking for a reasonably priced dinner. This was great with may lovely families in attendance. Service was friendly but perhaps a bit slow. Prices were excellent. Food was good.

Called here for lunch en route to Sancerre. The beer was cold, the outside tables overlooked a small square. I had a blue cheese salad, Mrs D a mushroom omlette. Both were plentiful and came with sauted potato and lots of salad.22⬠including drinks, which was a pleasant way to while away a lunch hour. Worth calling in if you're in the area and in need of sustenance.

Was recommended by the owner of the B&B we stayed at in the region but honnestly we don't know why. Restaurant looked tired. Service was ok. And food was just average. Not bad, not especially good. Just average.This place needs a breath of fresh air.

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Nevers. It is a charming village with antique shops and second hand book stores. At 3pm we were greeted by the delightful owner and served a very generous lunch. Would definitely go back here! There are a few outside tables with pleasant shade.

Very nice restaurant, annexed to the same name hotel, located on the north side of Charité-sur-Loire; since we spent one night at the hotel, we enjoyed the dinner as the half-board option.The restaurant is not very huge, having 25 to 30 seats; itâs colored, fresh-looking, with old and very beautiful photos of literature celebrities on the walls.The waitress was young, very kind, friendly, and meantime fast and efficient, being alone to take care of all the restaurant guests.The cuisine proposed by the lady-chef was mainly Regional, therefore, as per my experiences, very good.There was the opportunity to choose between several set menus (from 17 to 33 Euro), as well as the à -la-carte option; my wife and I tried the âgourmand menuâ (21 Euro) and the âgourmet menuâ (25 Euro).I tasted aspic de ratatouille (ratatouille in jelly) with oregano and lemon mayonnaise, then pork cheeks in red wine, with Cassis (blackcurrant) sauce and creamy potatoes (excellent!).My wife enjoyed a lamb meatball with toasted almonds, mint and coriander fresh sauce, asparagus gratin and creamy potatoes.We both finished with crème brûlée as dessert.As drinks, we tested a glass of local wines Pouilly Fumé and Côte de Charité rosé, both excellent.To render our dinner even more enjoyable, some soft background music.The quality/price ratio was definitely high, a side benefit to a delicious dinner and a beautiful time.

The owners are sisters Mary and Emily who come from a large family of restaurateurs. They make you welcome from the moment you enter. The food and decor are very simple but elegant. Service is enjoyable and not rushed. Good wines. One does not expect this level of cuisine in such a small town. Definitely the best restaurant in La Charite and we missed it on our first 4 visits. There is also a lovely patio in the shadow of the gothic cathedral..

This "off the tourist" route has fabulous wines [Pouilly Fume and Sancerre are nearby] as well as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This restaurant is a most welcome addition and will delight those who chose to dine there! The professionalism of the "chef's team" and the use of fresh ingredients add to the many delights!
