Best European food near Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan

July 18, 2020 Jasper Kershner

Reviews on European food in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Yokohama is easily accessible from Tokyo, but there’s enough to see and do here that it’s worth more than a day trip. Visit Minato Marai 21, a popular, modern neighborhood with great shopping and tons of restaurant options. TripAdvisor travelers also recommend stopping at Big Wharf (Osanbashi Pier), a uniquely shaped pier with spectacular views.

La Vela

Reviewed By ohgeorge

We were a small party of 4 who thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at La Vela. Westerners, particularly those from the US, might be disappointed in the portion size. For example, the rack of lamb here had only 2 ribs while you would expect a minimum of at least double that amount if not more. Overall, we were very impressed with the service as well as the cooking. To maintain the illusion of being in an Italian restaurant, there was an ample smattering Italian dishes including, for those in need of a "pick me up," a facsimile of a Tiramisu on the dessert menu. Bottom line is the food is tasty, well executed in a sort of japanese-style and professionally served to make for a very pleasant evening.

Once you get in Alte Liebe, you will feel as if you dropped into a Viennese atmosphere of the early 21 st century.. The live music with piano and violin will welcome you. Resides in a Hisotrical listed monument. The cuisine varies according to the season.

Came for dinner. Only 2 other tables on a Thursday night. The staff are friendly and helpful. Set menu with choice of 4 mains and 3 desserts. The food was nice but not exceptional. The musicians are great. The piano and violin players were able to play my wife’s request which was ABBA! They played Dancing Queen.

Coffe House The Cafe

A casual restaurant, facing Yamashita Park, offers all day dinng with a wide salection of menu. The menu includes our original dishes. Enjoy your drinks and meals in this friendly cafe desingned by P. Barry.

Even though the claim to fame for The Cafe is its being the birthplace of two Japanese western dishes, it's worth visiting today. The Seafood Doria is one of those dishes and it's worth the price of admission. Rich and decadent it's the kind of food people don't eat anymore. The chocolate sundae is also old fashioned and delicious.

Ore no French Yokohama

This restaurant is famous for enjoying French with less expensive in Japan. Staff were friendly and explained us all recommended menu with well-known knowledge. Though the Appetizer such as marinated fish and vegetable were so so, main plate such as grilled meat with foie gras and seafood soup with rice were superb. I recommend for you to skip appetizer and go straight to main plate. French Onion Soup is must have if you are onion lover!

We were staying at the hotel and, after a day of rail travel, wanted a convenient dinner location and one that would be less expensive than the hotel restaurants on the upper floor. The dinner buffet offered Western, Chinese and Japanese selections, green salad items, Snow Crab legs and a large dessert selection. We sampled from the various selections and found the food quality above average. I found the beef slices a bit tough - not like the very tender premium Wagyu steak we had a few nights ago at a teppanyaki. Then again, you have to remember this is a buffet. Dinner is fixed price - about $50USD per person, excluding drinks.Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback about your recent use at the all day buffet Compass. We are delighted that you were satisfied with our dinner buffet. Once again, thank you for your review and we look forward to welcoming you back to Yokohama Bay Sheraton Hotel & Towers soon. Cafe Tosca

Reviewed By purplepinay

I would have preferred a larger selection of cheeses and meats for breakfast. They had the same food everyday. There are plenty of tables available, many of them for the solo business traveler. Ambience is unhurried. I was a little put off by the staff's insistence that guests sterilise their hands before being seated (the assumption was that all our hands were dirty) and I saw that I was not the only one. Oh well, cultural quirks.
