My friends and I came here because it was open late while many other places were closed. They got pizza, which was terrible: cardboard-like, pre-cooked crust and processed toppings.I had grilled calamari, which turned out pretty good: big portion, tender, sautéed nicely with garlic, and not overcooked. The service, however, was downright rude. I asked the waiter a question about what came with a dish, he spat the answer at me and walked away. Later, he flung the bill at us. After we paid, he said something in Singhalese to us (about us?), so I said "pardon me?", and he rudely waved his hand and said in English "just go". I can't think of anything we did that would have made someone act this way!

The Drunken Monkey is perhaps the best bar in Hikkaduwa. Lovely big measures of rum for cheap prices, delicious pizza and curry, really friendly service. The bar's owner Kamari is so lovely, welcoming and professional, and the bar is well set out for watching the sunset or hiding from the rain. Lovely yoga classes from lily on the roof while we were visiting too. Hugely recommended!

Thoroughly recommend this place. The guys that run it are top class. The food is fantastic, especially try the sear fish. And really good value for money.Also i found out that two of the chefs have worked in top quality restaurants and have cooked for foreign dignitaries. Its great watching them cook in the open kitchen.Location is perfect at the end of the beach. Ask for the secret beach. Whilst i was there having lunch i spotted a turtle coming inshore to feed, so i grabbed a snorkle which the restaurant supplies free of charge and was able to float just feet away. And then go back to my lunch. If your in the area you need to check this place out.Andy MUK

We have visited Refresh for Dinner and ordered the prawn and mango curry as we read about it on TripAdvisor. I have to say that it was not great, it felt like somebody cooked some prawns in a jar of mango chutney. The prawns were fresh and plenty .We also had the sri Lankan curry and rice which was 1600 rupee (other places charge 750) and some of the curries were strange. One was a garlic curry and a sea spinach curry. The taste was ok but nothing special and I would not rush back.I think it was far to expensive for what it was in comparison.The staff was super friendly and attentive

Have had a great meal, Bruschetta de Pompodoro and Tuna Carpachi for starters then Calzone and Spaghetti Bolognese for main meals. All were excellently cooked and very tasty. The staff are lovely and friendly without being in your face. If you didn't know where this gem was you would walk straight past. Which would be a shame. Will definitely be back in a few days.

We went here for a light snack at lunch time. Along with a couple of beers we ate devilled prawns. We were given the choice of medium or very spicy - we chose medium, but should have gone for very spicy. The dish was good value and very tasty, although we might have preferred to pay a little more for more or larger prawns. We sat by a window and enjoyed the view over the sea.

The food, the atmosphere and the setting here is amazing.The boat ride on the lagoon is beautiful too, the early evenings are so peaceful, with monkeys in the trees, birds coming home to roost, fishermen peacefully casting lines, and large water monitors waiting for a snack on the river banks.The menu here is a treat, everything is fresh, everything is prepared by the lovely chef, she makes all of the pasta and it is delicious.The cocktails are pretty good too, in fact excellent.The cooking classes here would be fantastic, it would be a real treat to learn to prepare everything so freshly

Nordic House is located in the heart of Hikkaduwa. I went there many times last year and also this year for drinks and burgers. They really serve you the best burger in town! The staff is extremely friendly which I appreciated a lot.
