Really great place, not cheap, good food mostly fish but it is Cornwall. Staff really great, and one young lady entertained is with story's of the place, I actually think she is in the wrong job she should be on the stage. If you are in Port Gaverne this is the place to eat.

I had dinner here on Thursday night with my wife and had the most amazing 3 course meal. The food was most certainly made with love and passion and everything was superbly presented and all made from scratch. Wonderful local Asparagus with a Duck Egg, Charred Cornish Mackerel, followed by a Braised Short Rib of Beef which was steeped in flavour and I had the wonderful Chicken Glazed Cod, Crispy Chicken Skin, Cockles and Seaweed followed by sumptuous Desserts. The Front of House Staff were really helpful explaining what was in each dish, how it was made then followed up by a visit from the Head Chef, Andy, who wanted to make sure the meal was indeed up to expectations. For the caliber of food this is really fantastic value and one of the best meals we have had in a long time!

Well yes this is a five star hotel, but if you are used to the big city hotels then you maybe in for a shock. This is a very old building, so a very, very old hotel. Tiny stairs and lots of rooms in strange places, a bit of a rabbit warren. Great feeling though. Staff great, meals really good, rooms comfortable and clean and well serviced. Felt a little bit like a step back in time but fun for all that. Thanks for a great stay.

We enjoyed a lovely meal here with cocktails, great service, well thought out menu and the food was excellent. Highly recommend the chicken burger and pork dish! We were so full after our mains so didn’t try a dessert, they looked great though!

The gold medal went to the comparatively modest starter: raw sea bass on a base of crunchy slaw with creamy kotsuobushi flavoured mayonnaise droplets. Fabulous fillet of beef, beautiful meat perfectly cooked served with charred (carrot cooked on embers) and borderlaise sauce. Pear tart for pudding got the bronze but still Olympic standard (should have had the chocolate cake!)Super Pinot noir by the glass and good choice of non alcoholic drinks. Friendly greeting, service and good send-off. Nicer ambience in the dining room than I remember from last time (though can’t pin down why).
