We regularly visit Canada, from the uk, to visit family and one of the things we always do is have a family meal at The Keg. The 3 cheese garlic butter, the garlic bread, shrimps, mushrooms and the steaks here are just amazing. I had the halibut this time too which was just cooked perfectly. Our waitress was lovely and attentive and nothing was any bother. We all loved our meal and will be sure to return again next time. Thank you.

Chose the chicken sandwich w fries and MILD piri piri sauce. Unique for me - never had piri before. HUGE sandwich, massive quantity of fries. I took away abt half for my lunch next day. Tender, delicious chicken - not a speck of gristle or fat. Beats Swiss Duck as far as I'm concerned. Only drawback - this place can get warm since the grill is front and centre. They were doing a brisk pick up biz as well. A repeat for me.

We have been going to Mattson and Co for several years. We keep going back because the food is incredible and the service is excellent. The brunch is especially good, but everything is delicious. Also have used them for small group events and catering and would highly recommend.Thank you for your kind words and patronage. We are so grateful to all of our guests, but especially to regulars like you who have become more like family to us. We appreciate your review and all of your support of our business over the years. I went for lunch today with my family. Staff was rude, turned multiple people away when there were empty tables. Blatantly lied about time to turn over tables. Ie saying two hour wait when many spots outside open. Took a long time to take order, mixed up drinks, asked for bill two times before brought out. When we received the bill they were wrong. Music included songs with multiple swear words, including one about “b@$@$&$ and hos” and explicit sexual content. It was hard to then discuss this with our 8 year old niece. Even if she wasn’t there I wouldn’t have enjoyed that. Only positive - food was good. We won’t be back to this location however, as the staff was not welcoming at all, and the atmosphere was miserable.

This was my third time visiting The Ship. This time was just for drinks and a snack. Surprisingly the place was not busy, a change from my previous visits. The sweet potato fries and dip were AMAZING, a great complement to a beer. Keep in mind this place is 21+ on weekend nights.

We had a delightful late lunch here yesterday. We were seated on the sun-dappled patio with various herbs in the nearby planters. Our choices were the cured trout, Reuben spring rolls, and meatloaf. The trout was superb. The Rueben spring rolls were creative and tasty. The meatloaf was comfort food but honestly, we can make a meatloaf just as good at home. We will definitely return for an encore.

Have you ever watched a movie where the upset patrons steam over certain tables being waded on as if they were the most important people on earth while the observers get extremely poor service? Yes? That was us last night. FOODThe food was absolutely SPECTACULAR. I started with the daily soup that had some sort of coconut in it and Oh. My. God. I would have had 4 more bowls of it. I’d love to get my hands on this recipe and try to make it myself. My husband had the stone fruit salad and he said it was like “4 different meals at once” with flavour popping out from every bite. My main was the steak which in my opinion wasn’t anything ultra special, the sauce was fabulous but the meat was, well, meat. Hubby had the wild boar and loved it. They also had a bread that was made from discarded grains from a microbrew across the street. It was fabulous and everyone was raving to their servers. However, this is where the experience faulted BIG TIME. The dinner began with us being placed at a single table two tables down from the bar, in the middle of the room while the outer ring of tables sat vacant. Our table was similar to sitting in the middle of a busy hallway and was quite annoying to be honest. We asked to be moved and the manager was quick to allow it with no fuss. Our server was very, very, very slow. When we were seated there was a good 5 minute wait until we were asked about drinks with only 3 other tables filled. After we made our drink order it was close to 15 minutes before they came. *We could see the bar... it was empty*. There was yet another wait between the drinks and ordering the apps and mains. The apps came and the drinks sat empty for the *entire time* it took us to finish them and the mains were delivered from the kitchen from a young man and our server, or any of the other 3 buzzing about didn’t stop in until half way through our meals. Our server noted “I noticed you were looking at the wine menu”. This was easily 25 minutes prior. Our mains sat empty on our table for another 10 minutes, with empty wine glasses and no one stopped by. We finally decided we had enough as the service was atrocious and asked for the bill. That too took 10 minutes while they prepared my “birthday” plate (two chocolates and two macaroons). This may sound picky and minor, but here’s the kicker. I counted the number of times and servers that hit the “regular” tables. The table near the bar against the wall was 9 times by two different servers in the span it took us to get one visit. The group of 4 at the round window table was 11 visits by 2 servers and staff. The couple against the wall near the entrance, at least 8. They were clearly regulars or perhaps worth more money than we were to the restaurant and it was VERY clear. If you want good food, come to this place but don’t expect a ten out of ten unless of course you’ve been there before. I made the choice to support local instead of heading out to Kitchener to a competitive high end restaurant. Should have just made the drive. Enjoy, folks!

We were introduced to this wonderful spot by friends. It is delightfully set in the greenery of the South Ontario countryside and surrounded by a beautiful garden. The lunch menu is top class. At our table we hugely enjoyed: carrot and ginger soup, salmon quiche, chicken phyllo and the berry salad special. We sampled carrot cake for dessert. Another excellent dish and not overly filling. The set price was excellent value. Service was friendly and very good. Later we browsed the Pottery shop and marvelled at the array of wares on display. We came home with a couple of items and a lot of good impressions. We will certainly go back.Thank you for visiting Cafe Troy. I am pleased that you enjoyed your visit and hope to see you soon.Donn
