I love crepes and was super excited to try this place. Iâve heard people rave about it and even read tons of rave reviews. Coffee was fine. Service was good. I ordered the bacon, egg and cheese crepe and it wasnât bad, but Iâve had better. The dessert crepe on the other hand was a huge disappointment. It was chewy and thick.

Many years ago, before we took on responsibilities and life became complicated, friends used to meet for breakfast, particularly on weekends. Besides being a somewhat hedonistic experience, breakfast on weekends mobilized you early in the day and prepared you for whatever lay ahead.Now that we have met our responsibilities, and life has become less complicated on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, the Practice of Breakfast must be revisited. The issue is ... where? Fast food restaurants, there are many; national chains, quite a few; local places where you can be comfortable and enjoy a good breakfast, very few.The Old Brick Inn Café, 401 South Talbot Street in St. Michaels, is the answer to our prayers.The Old Brick Inn Café is easy to find, as Talbot Street is the main and only thoroughfare in St. Michaels. There is usually parking around the corner on one of the side streets. The premises are sunny and cheerful. A very attractive courtyard is open in the back during favorable weather. The level of noise is tolerable.The food is superior. The menu offers several omelets. The French Toast with fresh fruits and Canadian bacon was excellent. Coffee was plentiful; service was gracious and considerate. After a breakfast at the Old Brick Café, you will not want lunch and may actually not be that hungry at dinnertime, for the portions are very generous.Once again, the Practice of Breakfast has found a home. Cost per person, including tax and gratuity: less than $20, and worth every penny. If you are in the neighborhood, and even if you are not, make the pilgrimage to St. Michaels and enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the Old Brick with your friends. For groups of four or more, reservations are suggested.If you have not done it, try it.
