Algeciras (/ˌældʒɪˈsɪrəs/; Spanish: [alxeˈθiɾas]; Arabic: الجزيرة الخضراء, translit. Al Jazīra Al-Khadrā) is a port city in the south of Spain, and is the largest city on the Bay of Gibraltar (in Spanish, the Bahía de Algeciras). The Port of Algeciras is one of the largest ports in Europe and the world in three categories: container, cargo and transhipment. It is located 20 km north-east of Tarifa on the Río de la Miel, which is the southernmost river of the Iberian peninsula and continental Europe. In 2015, it had a population of 118,920.

My brother and I were Visiting Gibraltar and staying at a hotel in Algecias.This restaurant was close by so we tried it.Fresh fish to pick from on display. They offered a reasonable price for our choices.We were pleasantly surprised to be served such well seasoned and cooked fish.Went back again the next night. Had wonderful chocolate cake for desert.

Had tapas and something to drink, tapas was good but not excellent. A big smile for friendly staff, but the restaurant is in a hill so not to comfy to sit outside. Didn't try anything else on the menu. If you add also value for money, guess this is ok.

We visited El Vagon for lunch during the busy Christmas period. The presence of many locals is a good indicator that a place serves good local food and we were not disappointed.Although we only had a couple of montaditos (see picture), these were very tasty albeit they might have been more enterprisingly presented. Staff were courteous and friendly - the service was rather slow but we put that down to the fact that the restaurant was busy both inside and out (there is covered seating). The interior has a traditional feel with a few tables and chairs but also stools at the bar (in conventional tapas bar style). Pricing was pretty standard for Algeciras.Overall a very pleasant experience!

Really relaxed and comfortable with wonderful interior design indoors .A good quiet location with a spacious terrace in the centre of town .Great coffee ,cakes and delicious tapas ,all very good value .If youâre lucky youâll meet Kevin from Glasgow or Felipe de Algeciras who will sometimes dance fantastic flamenco with a superb Guitarrista .The place to go in Algeciras !
