Branding Iron Barbeque

We entered Branding Iron and it appears to be newly remodeled. Very nice and clean. Service was friendly and prompt. The food was just average for BBQ. Husband left some on his plate (brisket) and that never happens. He said it was dry and possibly reheated. Bummer.

Can't go wrong with this place. Great lunch options. All locally raised meats and smoked in-house. The pork, ham, turkey, and beef are excellent. They offer a daily special; always changing and very good. The portions are very good. The best meal is probably the smoked porkchop dinner. Very good! I also love the hand cut pork tenderloin, patty melt, and turkey bacon ranch sandwich. Also check out their meats for sale. Good prices on fresh farm to table meats!

The hope was to be able to provide a positive review with many accolades. However, in this case, our second attempt to at least be able to try their food was a loss. Today, Friday, May 12, 2017 about 3:45 pm, we stopped by to try out their sandwiches and sides, to make use of coupons they provided in a local newspaper, coupons expire May 15, 2017. Since their full page ad in the paper said they are only open Wednesday – Friday, that meant today was the last possible day t use the coupon regardless of the expiration date. We arrived and the sign said “open” and to push the buzzer for service. We did that, pushing the buzzer which had light indicator that it was working. After three minutes, my wife pushed it and again we saw the light turn on. After four more minutes I pushed it again. In the meantime, we picked up a sign that appeared to have been blown off their counter that espoused their drinks available and placed it on the counter. My wife was a little frustrated and pressed the button again and commented that the light was definitely on – again. She stepped back to look at their building which had all of the doors open, but no one seemed to be aware or available. I asked her if she wanted to leave and, since it was a couple minutes before 4:00, we left. Considering the layout of the business and our car being parked where it was, it is surprising they did not even come out to see who was leaving. Since we had a similar experience during their “Grand Opening” day at which they again had coupons, and we waited that day for more than an hour after asking them if they knew when they would be open and they kept saying “in a few minutes” or “any time now” we gave up that day. So, our concern is that you may be salivating for the idea of this restaurant – as we were….twice – only to find you wasted your time and gas (we drove from Peculiar almost to Lake Annette t come both times). As an aside, during their Grand Opening day they had a drawing thing at which they said they would call if we won anything. Ironically, in one of the newspapers with the coupons they had a list of winners and one of the names listed was mine (though the last name somewhat misspelled but not surprised due to the small ticket you write your name on). In any case, they never called nor provided the prize, so the business inside (which seems to be connected with and/or part of Running Wild), seems to be impacted the same as the BBQ part of it. We don’t plan on trying it again, but sadly I can’t provide a review for readers – positive or negative – about the BBQ itself, since on two separate visits it has been unavailable.
