Best Bar food near Tucson, Arizona, United States

Find out what Bar restaurants to try in Tucson. Although Tucson's fantastic weather, national parks and forests and desert provide the perfect environment for tons of outdoor recreational activities, this city of half a million people also has its share of history and culture. With a history that goes back much further than many of its southwestern neighbors, Tucson boasts turn-of-the-century architecture, historic neighborhoods, museums and the Mission San Xavier del Bac, a still-functioning 18th-century mission considered one of the most beautiful in the U.S. Mexican and Native American influences are pervasive, and the city has a distinctly Western flavor. There's also a college-town atmosphere, thanks to the University of Arizona, which has its own share of museums and a science center. Whether golfing at a world-class golf resort, horseback riding, hiking in the wilderness, discovering desert flora and fauna at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum or exploring pre-Columbian and other art at the Tucson Art Museum, you'll have a mind-boggling array of things to do.

What was I thinking? This is ZinBURGER...why did I order chicken? We ordered 2 different chicken sandwiches. Both tasted like high school cafeteria chicken. So...I take blame for the bad order but Zinburger should rethink offering dishes that taste like they just fell off the Shamrock Foods truck. Also, lose the heaving breaded oily tasteless onion rings.Service was excellent. Have had burgers in the past which were excellent....and the milkshakes are really good.

Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen

This restaurant is the best value in Tucson. It is consistent, relatively cheap, and the food is great. Try the cheese curds...best I have had outside of Wisconsin. I have been to 4 different Cheddar's restaurants (in 3 different states) and the food and service is always the same. I love the consistency. Take your family here without breaking the bank and be happy knowing you got your money's worth.

Gourmet craft pizza place in Downtown Tucson. Very unusual location -- place was a funeral home! The Tough Luck Club is the former basement morgue. Full bar with crafted beers and cocktails. Specialty is their crafted gourmet pizzas, but they do offer other items. I had the fennel sausage & roasted peppers pizza, which was very good.

Barrio Brewing Company

While many breweries are opting away from serving food and relying on food trucks so happy that Barrio continues to keep up their kitchen and excellent beer choices. I arranged a small group of coworkers to meet after work to have beer and what ever else. I called a few days ahead to have a table reserved. Glad I did, because arriving at 4:30 on Thursday afternoon, the place seemed pretty full. We had a server for our table and she was really on top of things. Honestly in all the times I have been at Barrio we have always had excellent service and the food and beers are good as well. Had a barrio Blond, which is a standard there and very good. Ordered appetizers for the table, which came out quickly. I recommend the Artichoke dip, very garlicky but tasty. I also had an order of the Carne taco's which were good and hit the spot, not too heavy and the carne asada was tender. Very casual and located in an industrial area of Downtown Tucson, though It is about a 15 minute walk from Armory Park or Children's museum or a 3 minute drive.

Pleasant setting in gardens with trees and covered with sail-like tarpaulins. There's 2 main areas, a patio as you come in where you can just have drinks and nibbles. The central area with the pond and live music is reserved for meals and drinks. There's a range of local draught beer, wines by the glass and cocktails. The menu is fairly typical Mexican fayre. The La Cocina specialty Meatloaf was not on the menu. So I had the Chile Rolleno, sort of stuffed large pepper with other sauces and roasted courgettes, I asked for it slightly spicier, and it was fine. Looking at neighbour's dishes, the fried Artichoke bits looked very tasty too. There was a musician on, without wishing to be unkind, as a singer he was a good guitarist ... Service was pleasant and friendly. The place seems very family friendly, at late lunchtime.

Trident Grill

Reading some of the reviews, I'm not sure what people were expecting. This is not an expensive white tablecloth gourmet restaurant. It is a grill, pub, bar; call it whatever you want but don't call the menu bar food. It is heads above typical bar food right out of a box.I rated Trident a 5 two years ago and I'm not going to budge off that rating when compared to other grills, pubs, bars, etc. Ate there again today and just love the place. Fun, eclectic mixture of people because this location is by the University of AZ but Trident has since opened 3 more locations in Tucson. I love this original location but we've been to every other location and they are all great. Consistently quality food at reasonable prices. It is the same menu at all locations. And why not? When you have a proven success story, why change it?Had to go today for fish and chips. Just spent a month in Ireland and England trying to eat every fish and chip platter I could find and it's easy to OD on fish and chips overseas. Needed a fix again and Trident is the only place in Tucson to get good fish and chips. Light beer batter and wonderfully fresh fish.I talked about salads before. Typically salads in a pub are an afterthought. Not Trident; their salads are very creative and fresh. Try the Paleo salad for something different. Best of all, they will do a half salad which is perfect for me because Trident's portions are based on hungry University students. We have always loved their clam chowder; creamy and loaded with clams. However, they now have a gumbo that could easily have been flown in from New Orleans (and I make a killer gumbo but I love theirs!). Tough decision? Nah. My husband orders one soup and I order the other and we share. While we both typically order salads, this was comfort food day. Besides my fish and chips, my husband ordered the BLT. He had never tried it and absolutely loved it. Not your mom's BLT. Besides the bacon and tomato, it had avocados and a cream cheese spread.Service? WOW! My background is running national and regional training programs for a franchise organization and my husband has been in customer service and sales his entire career. We have both marveled at the level of service at Trident. They hire terrific people (I'm assuming primarily students from the University at this location although service at all locations is wonderful) and it is obvious they treat and train them well. Staff works together to make sure empty dishes don't stay on tables, glasses are refilled and needs are met with a smile and friendly comments. Nothing cloying or overbearing; just efficient, friendly service from people who seem to thoroughly love what they are doing. But a warning: get there by 11:30 or after 1 or you will wait. A personal observation: Trident is owned by a retired military guy. Tucson has a large active military base, Davis Monthan. The owner not only respects the active military but also gives discounts to our military people and their families stationed in Tucson. Besides good food and service, who wouldn't want to patronize a restaurant that "walks the walk" for our military?

Everything about our dining experience at the Flying V was memorable. Our evening started with the made-at-your-table guacamole, which was some of the best we've ever tasted. Our service team was attentive, without being distracting, and the design and layout of the facility was appealing. We tried a range of entrees, from rack of lamb (cooked perfectly) to sea scallops to filet. The lamb was best, but all were fantastic. We skipped dessert, but the menu looked tempting. If you're looking for a nice night out with a standard but satisfying menu, check out the Flying V. And don't forget the guac!
