It is a part of the municipality of Waterland, and lies on the coast of the IJsselmeer, about 8 km (5.0 mi) southeast of Purmerend. It received city rights in 1355 and suffered a lot of damage during the fires of 1500 and 1513.

This restaurant was convenient for us since it is across the street from the bus stop.The building has a large restaurant/party room on one side for catered events. The other side is smaller and has a relaxed pub décor.We ordered several sweet Dutch pancakes and savory pancakes to share. It was the first time we tried a shrimp kroket, not bad but we still prefer the meat versions. The pancakes are as big as dinner plates. All of these items can be paired with a nice cold beer, hot cup of tea or soda.Service was good, prices were reasonable.

We really enjoyed our Brasa's dinner; its the only restaurant we found cooking some local food and we really appreciated it. The cheese fondue was amazing but even meat and fish were well cooked. If we'll come in Purmerend again for sure we'll eat here again.

After walking all over Edam we had chosen this place due to the fabulous eclectic window displays we had seen on our journey and upon entering hours after we still enjoyed the eclectic decor inside. Staff very friendly drinks were cold but I ordered the "Irish beef" hamburger and yes I think it was a joke but I was not laughing. Definitely a frozen very thin patty 2 very small pieces of tomato and a sad piece of lettuce. The roll was too crunchy on the outside from being in the oven too long. â¬12.95 not worth it even with the chips. Hubby asked for the Edam with dark till ended up with a white baguette instead and 2 pieces of Edam a little tomato and lettuce he said enough to taste â¬8. High prices for what was served.keep it fresh like the staff. We took Bus 315 to Marken Centrum, just 30 min ride, quiet countryside, beautiful waterways charming small town, sheep bla-bla to welcome us...Just walked around town and found De Vedeerde Werld - behind the bus stop and the pasture. Staffs were very friendly. Recommend by locals, we ordered Dutch Steak on Stone, cooked to your perfection, crunchy fries, delicious baked cheese potatoes....soooo good, service was great and priced very reasonable! If I go back to Amsterdam again, this restaurant will be on our MUST-GO list.

This was a friendly and comfortable spot to enjoy the early evening sun, just as this wonderful summer was beginning in early May. The beer is good, and the views are superb. We felt like having an early dinner, but we had to drive back to our hotel in Haarlem. Nice staff.

This restaurant, located at the middle of the busy Haven street in Volendam was packed at lunch time, and we were glad to find a table for the four of us. Typically it offers the usual fishing village specialties, mostly fish and seafood, but steaks and other dishes as well. We ordered a tray for two, with an assortment of fried fish and seafood which was generous in size, but not particularly tasty. My sister-in-law, who ordered the cod, fared better. The atmosphere was nice though, the service swift, and it was evident that the patrons were enjoying their food and their time. There are of course a lot of similar places nearby. Prices are moderate.

We had lunch here after our arrival in Volendam. Random selection that worked out well. Service was poor enough but we were not too bothered as we were in no hurry and were enjoying the sun and sitting outdoors. Lunch was enjoyed by all. Nothing spectacular but did hit the spot after being up very early for a flight to Amsterdam. There are quite a few choices for eating in Volendam on the quayside but this is one of the better choices.

The seance outside the window is beautiful and picturesque.Tomato basil soup was surprised me that it tasted almost as a ketchup, sour and condense but really flavorful. All dishes were okay and tasty except the grilled chicken breast. The seasoning of this dish was good but it probably was over cooked that the meat was too dry for me. Anyway, the portion size of all dishes are big enough for even a man.

My party of six stopped here for apple pie (as our lunch) as part of a guided private tour. We were greeted kindly, seated efficiently, and waited on quickly. We received plates of huge slabs (forget slices!) of heavenly apple pie, thin apples layered and layered and layered with cinnamon and other yummy flavors, accompanied by equal parts vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.
