Looking for a place close to our hotel with good beer. This place more than exceeded expectations. Even though they are a distillery, they had a nice beer selection. The food was interesting, tasty and fresh. They have a garden and tend to use local establishments for bread, coffee, etc. We were quite pleased with the quality of food and service. It's excellent find for a tourist town. We would definitely return.

After our visit to Elizabeth Ann Seton National Shrine, it was time for lunch. Ott’s was recommended at the shrine. What a great out of the way restaurant. Everything from sandwiches and salads! But our friends were extra excited to see French fries with gravy on the menu. Excellent taste and the prices were extremely reasonable!

Returned to Gettysburg Eddie’s this year. Glad we did. I like to try different restaurants each visit, but this is so convincing and the food is good. They also give you a good amount of food. My daughter loves the fish tacos. I had a cheeseburger with steak fries. The prices are reasonable, the staff was nice and informative. I was also able to buy a six pack to go. What’s not to like? Well worth a visit if going to Gettysburg.

Typical-looking bar and grill joint but the food was not typical.  Very good prices and great selection of burgers, sandwiches, and wings.  I ordered 6 wings with bourbon BBQ sauce and they were just decent, but not outstanding by any means. The chili was surprisingly excellent, as I find it difficult to find really good chili.  Perfect blend of heat and sweet with generous meat and ingredients. The crab cake sandwich was just average with a good amount of crab meat but it was lacking in flavor.  The sweet potato fries were wonderful, though, very crisp and tasty, not greasy at all. Overall, we were very impressed for a place with a small bar atmosphere to have food decent enough to want to make a return visit.

If you do go you must take lots of quarters as the parking is on the street with meters. The food was okay but the potato chips were really good.

Eagle & The Owl

Great views, great beers, creative pub food... Eagle & the Owl in the Highland Lodge is a favorite for locals and guests alike! Take your time and hang out a while, there are still more craft beers to try and a great meal is only a quick order away.

It is still off season and no snow, so it was not busy. It is in main lodge and a very nice wood interior. Great selection of craft beers on tap. Food is pricey but it is a resort. Dinners are $20+ and sandwiches are about $15. But my pastrami wrap was full of meat and quite filling. It was Friday night so a guy was playing music. Most of parking is a walk to the overflow parking and this was off season. But a nice place, food and beer were wonderful.

We stopped after visiting the Pippin Festival in Fairfield. They had a good selection of lunch items to choose from. The sandwiches we selected were quite good. My friend and I both selected a grilled chicken sandwich, mine had provolone and grilled mushrooms and hers had pineapple and teriyaki sauce. My spouse had a burger. The side salads were very fresh and tasty . My only issue is that is pretty dark inside so we tried to sit closer to the front of the restaurant where light was coming in from the windows there.

As a local Gettysburg resident, I am familiar with the area, including Ventura's in Fairfield. I've been there before and consider their pizza good. After dropping my son off at the Friday night football game, we went to dinner at Ventura's since it was close. They are very short staffed, and we waited a while to be seated. While waiting, we saw a crab bread bowl come out that looked absolutely delicious. We ordered it, and a cheese steak. The crab dip appetizer served in a bread bowl was a giant tuna melt. I'm certain of it! There was no crab!! It actually tasted like tuna fish!! I like tuna melts, so (although confused), didn't mind. Then our cheese steak came out. The meat had no taste. Literally bland. I'm not even sure how that's possible because there were sautéed onions on it. We left somewhat disappointed. I hate going out and feeling like money was wasted. We went to the football game and it was there my stomach started gurgle. ... by the time we were home, I was so sick and in the bathroom. What a terrible feeling. I'm not sure if something was bad, if it was food poisoning, or what was going on, I just know that I won't be back.My best advice if you visit here.... this is an Italian restaurant. .. stick to the pizza.

Possibly our worst dining experience ever, and we eat out a lot. First of all it was difficult to make a reservation. Always had to leave a message, and they either didn’t call back or were slow to call back, so our plans were uncertain for days. When we arrived and gave the receptionist our name, she acted like she knew who we were, but we were placed in the fartherest, most remote corner of the restaurant even though there were only 6 other people dining and plenty of empty tables. When we inquired if we would be able to see the show from our table, the receptionist moved us to another room - a small parlor-type room with 5 tables, 4 of which were set for dinner, but we wee the only ones there. One other couple eventually showed up. It was 30 minutes before a server appeared, and we had to ask to place a drink order. It took 15 additional minutes to get my mixed drink - a total of 45 minutes after we arrived. Throughout the evening I was never asked if I wanted another drink. This was indicative of the poor service throughout the evening. 30 minutes after asking for a refill on her iced tea, my wife had to knock on the kitchen door to find someone to give her some iced tea. Dinner was more disappointing than the drink service. We were not given eating utensils or a napkin, so I had to retrieve 2 sets of silverware from an unused table. We were not provided spoons or even a straw to stir sweetener into the unsweetened iced tea so I had to use a knife as a stir. My menu was different than my wife’s menu in that it was lacking “salad” as a choice vs soup. My wife ordered pork medallions. They were very small and very thin. I ordered medium rare prime rib. It was by far the thinnest cut of prime rib ever served as an entree in a restaurant, maybe 3/8 inch thick, and it was very fatty throughout and was cooked medium-well. Nothing on either plate was more than warm. Dessert was advertised as freshly baked pie, but it was dry cheesecake with a horrible topping. We both wanted coffee with our dessert, but no one ever appeared to offer coffee until at least 15 minutes after we were finished with dessert. Bottom line - at $49.95 per meal it was a total rip-off. The one-person magic show “performance” was lame and juvenile - more suited for a young child’s birthday party. The performer was a nice enough older gentleman who sympathized with us for the poor service. I am usually a generous tipper leaving at least 20% when service is good and more when it is outstanding. This is the first time I ever left a restaurant without leaving a gratuity. Our recommendation to others - don’t waste your time or money on this restaurant. You will get better food and better service at any other restaurant anywhere.
