As of the 2010 census, the village had a population of 15,241, a decline from 16,391 in 2000. The name is a reference to one of the clans of the historic Illini confederacy, who were encountered by early French explorers to the region. The village was founded as a French Canadian mission in 1696.

Sooner or later, usually sooner, all St. Louis Cardinals baseball fans and out-of-towners (like us) who visit St. Louis to attend a game and tour the historic sites will end up at Cardinals Nation, which occupies the first two floors of a 30,000-square-foot, three-story building in the St. Louis Ballpark Village across the street from Busch Stadium. Open at 11 a.m. daily, it is a spacious complex with a bi-level sports bar and grill plus the Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum and a 338-seat, two-deck rooftop venue with a view of the park, an all-you-can-eat-buffet and a full-service bar. It's called the "Ultimate Bird's Nest." But you are advised to make reservations well in advance, especially if the Cardinals are in town. My wife and I managed to sneak into the restaurant for lunch. With three patios, two large bars, a host of large flat screen TVs and memorabilia galore, it's a popular entertainment venue and tourist destination. We started with a bowl of tomato soup, a pound of BBQ chicken wings and toasted ravioli with ground beef and Italian sausage, a St. Louis staple. For an entree, I couldn't resist a full rack of St. Louis-style pork ribs with tangy BBQ sauce, cream slaw and wild rice Pilaf. My wife settled for one of her favorites, a six-ounce sesame seared Atlantic salmon with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. For dessert, we had chocolate and strawberry shakes with chunks of vanilla ice cream. Afterward, we went upstairs to tour the Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum. The Cardinals really know how to throw a party.

Buffalo Bison was VERY good. They only have one cab selection for wine by the glass and thankfully it was really good. Lots of beer choices. Pretzel beer cheese was really Good. Also had the trout and it was excellent. Atmosphere was also great (we sat at the bar).

So after researching our latest trip I noticed that this place was near to our accommodation.So we walked around the local area intending to stop there.Can i just say i apologise for asking questions about the various beers on tap as it became apparent that i should have know what they all were as the explanation was not only very short but also very abrupt.Also can i also apologise for my wife who queried the spelling of the wi-fi password as this was dealt with in the same mannerYou should be ashamed of your customer service, oh and in case you don't remember us we are the Brits who did not leave a tip.

This burger joint is in the middle of a residential neighborhood. They have two sides for seating. One with a bar that looked packed and then the side that we sat in that was a big open space. There are tvâs so you can watch sports. If you go on a Monday night (which we did) burgers are buy one get $5 off a second one. Staff was friendly and our server Kristen J. was nice and very attentive.

Went for a late breakfast in a Sunday. Very cute street in Benton Park area of St Louis. Easy to get to from any direction in STL. We were seated right away inside. There is outdoor seating too but all the tables were full. The two of us ordered coffee, french toast (w a side of egg whites for balance), and the BP Slinger. The French toast is perfect! Instead of traditional "Texas toast" french toast, BPC uses a whole grain bread. Flavored just right too. You dont need syrup. Or much of it. Its served with a side of maple walnut cream cheese. I tried it but it's not necessary. I asked for a sugar free syrup, but they didn't have it. The BP Slinger is two huge beer biscuits with cheese scrambled eggs and sausage gravy on top. Flavor is fabulous! You get a side of potatoes which is a hash of some sort. Also great. I dont know what kind of coffee they use, but it's great too...probably one of the best coffees I've ever had.

Great food, unassuming place. This place is a little off the beaten path, but well worth a short detour! The staff is great- seems like everybody does a little bit of everything. They probably aren't family but it has that kind of vibe. The food is extraordinary. I tried the pulled pork, tri-tip, and meatloaf. Great, great and great! Had cornbread in a skillet for starters, amazing. And four great sauces to choose from.Decor is fun, lots of photos of musicians. Any place that has pictures of David Bowie and Buddy Guy can't be bad, right? Honestly, just go there. You'll be glad you did!

Weâre celebrating a birthday. Itâs a dreary, rainy night and weâre met with friendly faces and warm greetings. The restaurant/bar has lots of character. Lots of hardwoods and brick to this place. Steaks are cooked to perfection, each cut is topped with its own sauce or glazing. Served with a baked potato and side salad. Topped with a nice coffee afterwards and your meal is complete. The only drawback for this night is that service was a bit slow. Possibly from our waitress having too many tables to attend. Still enjoyable.

I am SO impressed with the Broadway Oyster Bar! I did the call ahead priority seating and we were seated right when we checked in on a busy Saturday night. Awesome! We ordered the Voodoo shrimp as a starter and it was phenomenal! Our waitress Carly (I hope I didnât spell that wrong) recommended the Hurricane drink and that was spot on as well. Carly was super friendly and helpful. She found the time on a busy Saturday to get to know our table and we appreciated that. I was stuck between two main dishes and she persuaded me to get the crawfish mona dish. WOW! Carly-thank you SO much. This meal was amazing and I will dream about it back in Michigan. Iâm so glad I found this place on Yelp. 10/10 we will be back someday. Your waitress Carly is a gem! We donât know either! I do know we get a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews just like yours because I respond to every review on Trip Advisor, Google and Yelp. Beautiful garden setting, welcoming hostesses, knowledgeable and prompt wait-staff. Nice menu with good variety, everything is always promptly and well prepared. Always enjoyable!But, wish it opened sooner on Sundays.
