Fat Patty's

We were in town for a funeral and after checking on TripAdvisor we found that Fat Patty’s is number one in Ashland Kentucky. It is a pretty good burger place with a very nice outdoor patio that’s protected from the rain so we enjoyed a meal on a beautiful summer evening. Good location in the center of town, pretzel sticks were good, my Laredo burger was good.

My wife and I visited this BBQ restaurant for the first time earlier in 2019 and the food was pretty good.I had a brisket sandwich, and the brisket was sliced instead of pulled. I liked the texture and the flavor was wonderful. I have had brisket in several restaurants and I liked this better than anywhere else I have eaten it. The baked beans disappointed because they had cinnamon in them. That made them rather unique, but it was not to my taste. Without the cinnamon, I would have raved about them. We felt that the food was priced a little high for what it was, but we left satisfied. Our waitress did a good job for us, and that helps when trying a new place to eat.

My family and I eat here often and we have always had good experiences in friendly wait staff. The food is always very prompt and freshly made. They have change some their special deals and things around the have confused me some but that's OK that's on me not the restaurant. One of our favorite menu items is the sweet Habanero chicken wings. There's no spice to them at all just nice and sweet karma even my 7 year old enjoys these very much. We shall return many more times for Sure

Callihan's American Pub & Grill

Callihan's is set in a nice place, with a great idea. Irish themed American food with a great outdoor dining space. The problem is that it is just average. There are some items on the menu that I have thoroughly enjoyed, liked the stuffed mushrooms. They are fantastic! Large, deep fried mushrooms with a cream cheese filling served hot and fresh with a wonderful honey-mustard dipping sauce. I recently tried the burger with a spicy tomato jam topping and it was cooked just as I requested (medium) and the tomato jam was fantastic. Another very good item is the fried green tomatoes with an aoli dipping sauce. Here are the problems with this restaurant, which I feel could be fixed pretty easily: have a drink menu-when I asked the server about the cocktails, she just said "what do you want?" She really wasn't familiar with what the bar could make or serve other than wine or beer and there wasn't a list of those available beverages either. I decided on a peach bellini. It was okay, had enough alcohol in it, but just wasn't that flavorful with the peach. It was artificial tasting. Secondly, the menu was old and faded and was frankly hard to read. It was also sticky, as were the floors. The restroom was clean and neat, however. Service was very slow on a Saturday at 1:00pm, and there weren't many other patrons in the place. The two servers I did see were constantly busy. The hostess who seated us was sitting on the floor when we arrived and seemed like she really didn't enjoy being there. There were many cabinets at the POS station that had faded and worn out looking areas on it. I just think this place needs a general overall freshening up of it's decor, new menus and a drink menu. The food was fine. I would give this place another chance if they changed a few things and paid more attention to the overall general appearance. I understand they have live bands at times and they have two levels of bars and dining available. It would be a great venue for live music.

Applebee's

Reviewed By LMcNeese

We visited Applebee's after a special Thursday night church service. We arrived 30 minutes before they closed and you could tell. The waitress was visibly unhappy about our late arrival. She made statements like " I have to put the order in before the kitchen closes""Are y'all ready to order"?When she brought our food she rushed and placed it in the table and rushed away The all day burger was ok, the fried shrimp had NO flavor at ALL The baby back ribs had very little meat I don't need to visit that place ever again!Dr. Mac
