A former mill town, Bolton has been a production centre for textiles since Flemish weavers settled in the area in the 14th century, introducing a wool and cotton-weaving tradition. The urbanisation and development of the town largely coincided with the introduction of textile manufacture during the Industrial Revolution. Bolton was a 19th-century boomtown, and at its zenith in 1929 its 216 cotton mills and 26 bleaching and dyeing works made it one of the largest and most productive centres of cotton spinning in the world. The British cotton industry declined sharply after the First World War, and by the 1980s cotton manufacture had virtually ceased in Bolton.

We went to this restaurant after seeing them on news for our anniversary. Not nice, Over rated and extremely poor Indian food. We waited very very long time to get served dispit reminding them two times It was only warm and oily. Very disappointed.

We've been to this restaurant about 6 times now, and every time has always been great. The staff are really friendly, Food is served quickly and is delicious, and it isnt over priced. Will continue to keep going here.

Absolutely love this restaurant, the food quality is superb and the staff are all so efficient and friendly (especially Nazz).The chef is extremely talented and the food is consistently good; we have never been disappointed. Definitely the best Indian restaurant for miles.

Visited for the first time on Friday 1/11 with 3 girlfriends. The staff here are very attentive. The food was nice all four of us having different meals. Itâs quite an upmarket restaurant with chandeliers and comfy couch seating area and very brightly lit, however really noisy as the acoustics lend themselves to enhancing everyoneâs conversations so quite hard to hear ourselves. Dear JanMEngland,First I would like to thank you for the visit and taking the time to share a review. We do take great care in providing the best food and service to our guests. We are glad to know that you and your girlfriends have enjoyed the meals and the attentive service we provided. However, we can see that you had difficulty hearing each other because of the noise created by the acoustics. We've been waiting for 3 months for this superb restaurant to open again after it's refurbishment. The decoration is nice and feels cosy. This is a very popular indian restaurant. The food is very tasty and the staff are lovely. It's the best indian food for miles around and we will be back soon.

I had intended visiting the Royal Balti for a long time. We visited yesterday and received a very warm and friendly welcome from everyone in the restaurant. After the popadumms and pickle tray (very tasty) we ordered 2 chicken tikka shashliks with mushroom rice and Jalfresi sauce. The portions were huge, very well cooked and presented. We thoroughly enjoyed our tasty meal which was finished off with fresh oranges and a small tipple. I took home a large "doggy bag" which has gone nowhere near my dogs.
