Situated at an intersection of deep gorges in the lee of the Coast Mountains, it has a dry climate with an average of 329.5 millimetres (13 in) of precipitation being recorded annually. Lillooet has a long growing season, and once had prolific market gardens and orchard produce. It often vies with Lytton and Osoyoos for the title of "Canada's Hot Spot" on a daily basis in summer.

We were in Lillooet on a day trip from Whistler and after stopping in at the Miyazaki heritage house we came here for lunch. When we arrived at 2:00, we were the only customers in the small 50 plus seat restaurant located on Main Street.This is a typical âChinese Canadianâ restaurant that serves the usual Canadian food â burgers and sandwiches but also has some authentic Chinese dishes.The four of us ordered 3 dishes and 2 small bowls of rice to share: ⢠Sweet and sour pork ($9.95) â no green peppers, onions and pineapple chunks in the dish but we were told in advance before ordering. This dish is more on the sweet side and not too much sour, if any. Nevertheless, an okay tasting dish. ⢠Black bean sauce beef with vegetables â tasty dish with mixed vegetables. ⢠Singapore fried rice noodles ($12.50) â tasty dish that has a hint of curry powder taste. This is not a spicy hot dish.Originally, we wanted to order black bean sauce beef with rice noodles but the restaurant did not have any rice noodles. In addition, we wanted to order some Chinese vegetables such as bok choy but the restaurant did not have any. It is understandable that certain food items are not available due to supply and demand in a small town.Ratings breakdown: ⢠Quality and taste â above average taste â 3.5 out of 5 rating ⢠Portion size vis-à -vis price â dishes are on the small side â 3 out of 5 rating ⢠Service â we were served by May who was very friendly. Ok we are 300 kilometers from the sea and you would not expect great fresh sushi. However, I was wrong. This restaurant delivers quality and freshness that matches Vancouver. Three hungry bikers devoured the menu and walked away both sated and pleasantly surprised. Carl, a tall handsome man was our waiter and guided us through their imaginative roll creations; try the Lillooet special, if only because you will not find it elsewhere

Adjacent to my hotel D'Oro thought take a shot as not on any review thus far. Food was good flavorful and reasonably priced. Seems to be family run and operated, waitstaff were very helpful in describing menu. I had a Filipino dish of marinated chicken on a skure and rice noodles, They had a vast amount sandwiches to choose from but hey when in Rome do as the Romans. Come to find out they had operated a booth at the Farmers Market across the street for 3 years and all their customers told them they should open a restaurant, so Mel's was opened 1 year ago. Sign said going to have a buffet every Friday night.

Not many choices in Lillooet but this is my favourite. Johnny is always pleasant and makes you feel welcome. The buffet tastes decent but I always feel a little gross after. But if you order off the menu it's pretty good food. Have brought many visitors to Lillooet to Totem and they all love it.
