Sweeney's Seafood

We went to Sweeney's for our second visit to celebrate our anniversary. This is about the only authentic seafood restaurant in the area besides all those chain restaurants. We started out with Calamari and Mussels. The calamari was very, very tender; the only thing was the coating was too salty. Mussels were excellent. For the entrée I had the scallops and hubby had fish & chips. The scallops were so good. The fish my husband had was huge; he was very satisfied with the meal. We had Crème Brule for dessert and OMG it was good. Coffee was excellent also. This is definitely a go to restaurant for seafood in our area.

Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen

Our waiter was just ok but not too interested in the job, according to his low level of enthusiasm. I ordered the blackened white fish but was brought lemon white fish instead. I sent it back. When the correct fish was brought out, it was very, very salty. I would have sworn they threw a bunch of salt on it as they sent it out. If it hadn't been a replacement for the wrong dish, I'd have sent it back too. My friend got a burger that wasn't cooked enough for her liking, but she ate it. The glass of cabernet I got was reasonably priced and acceptable. We'll go somewhere else next time. We only waited about 10 minutes at 5:40 on a Wednesday night. People were waiting outside when we left.

Ok, first the annoying: we called to make a Saturday evening reservation and were told that reservations were only for groups of 5 or more. When we arrived, the hostess said, "Oh, then you should have simply called ahead." Wait. What? Apparently their rules of engagement allow for calling ahead when you're 30 minutes out. Be nice to have that info on their website and/or for the reservation-taker to have mentioned this. The rest was actually quite pleasant after our hour wait. Food was high quality, servers were attentive and efficient and the low ceiling effective in keeping ambient noise to a minimum.0

Fish is simply awesome with large portions. Luncheon menu has daily specials which are a great value as you get a sandwich, side and beverage including beer for $9.99. Happy hour starts at 2:00pm with $2.00 off appetizers and local draft beers. BJ is the best server, knows everything about the menu and is fun to be around.

Excellent in all aspects. Atmosphere, menu, service and of course, food. It’s a 360 experience. Mojitos in Centerville is a plus and the peanut butter chocolate cheesecake to close the feast, highly recommended, if it’s available on your visit. We had Tavern Burger, Caesar Salad and Citrus Chicken Salad. We’ll be back before We fly back to Puerto Rico.

This our first visit to the re-branded Redlands Grill. I selected the Grilled Pork Loin with Smashed Garlic Potatoes for $20.95. The pork loin was perfectly cooked, moist and tender. The pile of garlic potatoes was generous and delicious. She ordered the Jumbo Fried Shrimp ($24.95) and they were really jumbo and very good. The Maker's Mark Manhattan was $14. But the drink comes in a glass with an overflow flask with what amounts to a second drink. A glass of Wente Chardonnay was $9. Tevonte was very attentive. Note - their tip suggestion included tax.

I tried the Beyond Burger, a veggie burger, and she had the Fried Chicken Sandwich, both were $14. With all the condiments the veggie burger tasted pretty good. The Chicken Sandwich was good too. While they highlight their special condiments, i.e. Chipotle Ketchup, etc., they have regular versions also. A pint of the Lock 27 Charlosta beer was $5.50. Holly W. was attentive.

Doubleday's Grill & Tavern

Reviewed By U642VMrobertc

Visited Doubleday’s this past Friday Nite with another couple. Somewhat surprised that there was no wait for a booth. Our waiter, Matt was completely “on it”. Great service. Each of us ordered something different. I ordered French onion soup and the Meatloaf sandwich. The French onion soup was just ok, the broth was a bit wimpy. The meatloaf sandwich was extremely good. You need to be hungry. I like sweet flavors, so the ketchup glaze they use on the meatloaf was very good. We always have great meals here every time we eat here.
