Shanty Creek Resort - Summit Village

Here in the heart of northern Michigan’s Chain of Lakes region in Antrim County, old fashioned hospitality and year-round outdoor recreation reign supreme. Across 5,500 acres of rolling countryside, Shanty Creek displays four beautiful seasons and four distinct villages surrounded by unspoiled scenery. Each village delivers a slightly different flavor while collectively being part of the Shanty Creek experience. From summertime golf, biking, and boating to winter’s favorite snow sports, Shanty Creek’s Summit Village, Cedar River Village, and Schuss Mountain deliver family fun, traditions, and value.

Golf is great, the resort is not.

Reviewed By Chris W

Golf is 5 stars. Resort is 2 stars. Rooms are OK, but no daily housekeeping. I tried to get my wastebaskets emptied and some coffee cups halfway through my stay, but no response. Food is 1 star. Service is good, but food is overpriced for the quality and quantity. Suggest you eat elsewhere. The two restaurants on the property, but unaffiliated with Shanty, are good.

Wonderful stay at Cedar River Lodge unit 003

Reviewed By AidanB98

Just spent a long weekend at the Cedar River Lodge and stayed in room 003. Great location for our young kids who were able to just walk out to the pool. We loved sitting in the hot tub watching the kids play in the heated pool. Skiing was super easy since we could just walk out from the room fully dressed and jump on the purple lift. Room had 2 queen beds which worked great for our family. Gas fireplace was a nice touch and helped to dry our ski gear. Will definitely stay again and will ask for the same room.

Amazing Bed and Breakfast!

Reviewed By Granana

My husband and I stayed at the Applesauce Inn this past weekend. The innkeepers, Jamie and Gary, went over and above to make our stay so special. The B&B is in Bellaire, Michigan, close to Traverse City, Charlevoix and Petoskey in northern Michigan. The breakfasts were delicious, including the coffee and tea! We plan to return to this gem in Bellaire.

Not as advertised don’t waste your money

Reviewed By I2089GWleslies

The website is from the previous owners. Grounds and house sadly neglected. Gardens overgrown, 3 foot tall grass, bare spots in lawn, weeds everywhere, bushes overgrown, sidewalks not edged, wrought iron fence almost invisible because of 3 foot high grass, dying trees, missing shingles, wasp nest in eaves, wooden fence nearly collapsing. No coffee near room at 7 am, no treats in room, as advertised, only beverage available was bottled water. Room appeared clean, at eye level. Fireplace did not work, nightlight in bathroom did not work. Appeared to be pink mold on filter cover for jacuzzi, bed was rock hard, weather stripping at bottom of doors was shredded. Was not offered assistance to carry bags upstairs. Breakfast was very good, interior of house well kept. Pleasant owners.

Legend Cottage Inn

Quiet and peaceful

Reviewed By Bldeveryday

Away from the hustle and bustle of the slopes, it’s a great getaway just for some quiet time. Time to catch up on reading next to the fireplace. The place I stayed at is well maintained, clean and well stocked with dishes, pots and pans if you feel like cooking. There’s a grocery store nearby for supplies. I used it as a home base to visit Charlevoix, Petoskey and Traverse city for the day. Not the place if you like crowds and continuous events/ activities specially this time of the year, just before the holidays.
