Schwäbisch Gmünd (German pronunciation: [ˈʃvɛːbɪʃ ˈɡmʏnt], until 1934: Gmünd) is a town in the eastern part of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. With a population of around 60,000, the town is the second largest in the Ostalb district and the whole East Württemberg region after Aalen. The town is a Große Kreisstadt since 1956, i.e. a chief town under district administration; it was the administrative capital of its own rural district until the local government reorganisation on 1 January 1973.

Wirklich schmackhafte gutbürgerliche Küche. Nettes Personal, einfach so, wie man es sich im ländllichen schwäbischen Raum erwartet.Die Preise sind für die Region etwas gehoben, auf Grund der Qualität aber angemessen.ich kenne in der Umgebung Lokale, da sitzt man "gemütlicher", aber das ist ansichtssache. Das Hotel macht von auÃen einen gut geführten Eindruck, sieht ausgesprochen gepflegt aus.Wir kommen auf Grund der weiten Entfernung selten hier her, aber das wird sicher nicht das letzte mal gewesen sein.

I'd been to various iterations of the Bürgerhaus restaurant before, but only the Markgraf has got my repeated custom. I was thre for my wedding anniversary and the food was plentiful, beautifully presented and tasty and the bar very relaxed. Service is friendly and helpful, possibly with a little something on the house after. The best German restaurant in Backnang, I would say. Highly recommended and not just for pre-theatre food (although combining it with a trip to the Bürgerhaus above is obviously a pretty logical thing to do).

You can find a very good Swabian cuisine with some international elements at the Fuggerei. They serve a perfect Tafelspitz-consommé. Less convincing were the Swabian lentils. The staff is well skilled and obliging. The medieval building is next to the Münster square and you dine in a vault with modern decoration elements. In summer there is a charming terrace to enjoy mild nights. As good as it gets in Schwäbisch Gmünd.

Driving to business meeting thru rolling valleys east of Stuttgart, purposely made a wrong exit off the highway so GPS would recalculate and take us thru the back country, about half hour out from our destination Googled for a restaurant for lunch. This was maybe 10 minutes away so we headed that way, wound our way down to bottom of valley to arrive at a beautiful, rustic traditional German country building, upon entering was very suprized to see that this was a Michelin star rated location. Elegant decor, rustic feel, well decorated. Had salmon, white asparagus with purified butter and cheese sauce and potatoes, desert was something out of this world, very likely the best desert I've ever had. You would not find this on purpose but thrilled we found by accident. 100 Euro's, 2 people for lunch, well worth it.Dear dgm999, Thank you so much for coming to our restaurant and for taking the time to share your experiences and the picture. We are delighted to see how much you enjoyed your lunch. Now is the best season for fresh regional asparagus. In combination with our 100% homemade dessert compositions we hope to have given you a good base for your following business meeting. We had reserved a table, which is necessary as the place was packed.There is a regular menu and two daily specials. We chose the daily, veal - sauce - pasta, and the meat was as tender as it can get.Service is fast and friendly, seating comfortable. There are parking spots in front of the restaurant, the restaurant is somewhat out of town, so a car is convenient

Visited on my way home after having reserved via web. Friendly welcome, could select a table. Just took 3 starters, it was enough. Two amuse geules started the menu, including one piece if calf filet, very nice. Had local trout with an excellent crust, a piece of male chicken which was tasty and a âhiddenâ egg. Service was attentive. Consider to come back.
