Reviewed By harmat976It was perfect for a one-week business trip. The bed was great. The breakfast was delicius but it was same every day. The room was cleaned every day so it was super. There was a normal LCD TV in the room with many programs (in german language) but I didn't watch TV. :)

Very friendly welcome opened by one of the owners who explains with modest pride the historical conservation achievements of this jewel. Everything in the atmosphere recalls a great Swissness (Swissness). With this combination of charm, attention to detail and a welcoming atmosphere. The big surprise is this patio on several levels that could almost be described as majestic. Because it is very large in this building block of three to four buildings joined together then with their maintained inner courtyard. Glass covered since the 19th century with excellent conservation (oldest elevator in Switzerland). Everything is to admirable: Toby on the courtyard, with café restaurant, the rooms are welcoming, comfortable, most of them open onto this patio and you can even leave the door open to enjoy a little of the Interior-exterior relationship with this beautiful volume. There are mysterious Roman baths in the basement. Very attractive and modern, several individual bathing cabins. Outside there are also free open-air baths that can be reached not even 100 m downstream along the river. Breakfast is served exactly from the Swiss perspective with cheeses to be cut, fresh bread to cut and good local products. 10 of 10 !

Fantastic 4 night stay at the Limmathof Baden (the new building)
Reviewed By Ruth_HardyMy husband and I stayed for four nights in the New Part of the Limmathof Baden (Novum Spa). When we booked we asked for a quiet room with a view. The staff at the Limmathof contacted us and recommended that we upgrade the room to a Junior Suite which was located on the second floor. It was a corner room with a large balcony, a very good suggestion from staff, as the room we had originally chosen was on ground level. Although there is some building work going on on the other side of the river, we did not get disturbed by it. We actually enjoyed watching some of the work going on. We checked in on the 29th of January 2019, and right from the start we've had a great experience.The lady at reception was very friendly and explained everything. We wanted to make use of the pools/baths with the mineral springs, which are located on the other side of the Limmat river (in the older building of the Limmathof). The lady explained how there is a basket with bathrobes, slippers in the room and you simply walk across the little bridge and make use of the Mineral Springs, the Steam Room, Ice Room, and the Sauna. You get to pick a locker with a key in the change rooms, and off you go. The whole facility is kept very clean and all the staff we've had contact with, where professional, always with a smile, and all to happy to listen, and answer any questions, and make suggestions. We also had a relativ visit with a couple of kids and we sat in the Restaurant and ordered this amazing plate with cold meats, cheeses, etc. it was served with beautiful bread. The breakfast was an absolute delight every morning. There is a good variety available and you can also request eggs cooked to your liking. The staff again very professional, and always with a smile. We enjoyed our time tremendously, and we love to come and stay again, although we live in Australia and it is a very long way to come. The Limmathof has a great team, and we hope they keep up their standard and professional approach.

Reviewed By childsplay67This hotel is in a great location but the hotel itself is run down and really dated - downstairs where the breakfast is served is an uninviting smoky bar. Frankly depressing. The staff were helpful but spread too thin as another guest has said - so often reception was deserted. We hopped on the bus snd stayed at the aparthotel instead - way nicer and cheaper too.

“Home away from home”

We would definitely recommend River Residence for business, family or leisure travel as you walk away refreshed and inspired! Our family of four, which included two medium sized dogs, called the River Residence our home for two months after relocating from South Africa. Marco and his trusty team runs a tight ship and it clearly shows in the professional, friendly and sincere manner in which all guests are treated. Marco did not think twice to accommodate our dogs, which are more like children to us and we all settled in within the first day! Renate and her crew ensures that the apartments are cleaned weekly which includes a fresh set of towels and bedlinen. The communal laundry room was so well equipped that this chore seemed more like a pleasure. The apartments have everything you need to cook a hearty meal or just warm up some ready made meals. The Dulce Gusto coffee machine is a bonus as we are huge coffee drinkers. The location of the River Residence is great as you are within a very short walk of the Baden main train and bus station. Here you will find a vast selection of grocery stores and other shops to fulfil all your needs. The station is also in the heart of Baden where you will find all major banks, mobile network providers and various clothing and fast food shops. The views from the River Residence are just breathtaking and walking around the neighbourhood, interacting with the locals just makes you appreciate true Swiss hospitality even more. We will be back! Rustic-style Baden Youth Hostel - a former stable dating back to the last century - has lost nothing of its charm and is ideally suited for exploring the spa resort and its 19 thermal springs. The hostel lies a short distance from the town centre next to the "Aue" sports complex, on the banks of the River Limmat. In other words, the perfect base for sportspeople and sports en-thusiasts, as well as for solo and group travellers.

The restaurant is good but too expensive considering that it is a normal place where to eat normal food. The breakfast is normal, not so rich of different kind of food, but acceptable. The quality of the service is good. People are kind.

Adjacent to the hotel the new city district "Baden West" emerged various restaurants, a movie theater, a hamam and atelier. The hotel was build of natural materials and artistic sensitivity. The 30 rooms are furnished with timeless elegance and the most modern comforts. The hotel-owned restaurant Lemon is famous for its exclusive burger creations and its uncomplicated cuisine. Hotel guests may use, at an additional charge, the wellness and SPA-area of the sister hotel "Limmathof". (located 10 minutes walking distance)
Good location but VERY Loud
Reviewed By colori20I stayed at this hotel since I attended a congress across the street at Trafo. Location is perfect. The room (107) very spacious. The only down side, it is very poorly isolated. If you are noice sensitive this is not the hotel for you. The room faces the street and one can hear ever car, truck driving by. Every single train from the nearby train station can be heard. I can bear noice, but this time it was even too much for me as well I had a sleepless night. I would choose a different hotel only for the mentioned reasons next time. This makes the price/value ratio out of proportion. Paid 190CHF per night which is too much considering the discomfort it comes with. If I had to stay another night, I would change hotel.

Reviewed By claudios242I booked one room on Wednesday @ 6 pm ,when I arrived nearby the hotel @ 7pm, l phoned and I asked an help to find the place and I did not receive support, I understood there was no parking, I told it was a problem for me, it was late and dark, I asked if I could cancel the booking and they told me yes, then I acknowledged they charged the full rate because it was a not refundable rate... I travel more than 100 days every since 2003 never happened so rude and impolite service. No comment anymore
