The marvellous place!

It was our first visit to France, and we enjoyed our trip so much because of such hartley people as Olwen and Mike. They are were very nice and friendly. Interesting people and excellent hosts. They responded very quickly and gave us useful recommendations how to get to their place. The apartment in their summer house (gites) is very clean and comfortable. We found there everything we needed, and felt ourselves as at home. The house itself neighbours the forest. The best choice for the travellers from the big city as we are. You listen to the bird singing in the morning, and look at the stars at night and breath the fresh air, of course. It's very easy and fast (30 minute ride) to get to the attractions of Dordogne valley from Nieudegat Gites. The views are amazing. And we'll never forget the picturesque landscapes of Perigord and our kind and hospitable hosts. We would like to visit Nieudegat Gites again for sure. Thank you so much, Olwen and Mike. You will be cared for

The place, if you had not already surmised is a rural paradise, run by two dedicated people who love the Basque country and culture. Although situated in a relatively remote area, a network of country lanes connects you to a variety of local hostelries; all information about how to get there and reservations are taken in hand for you if you wish. In fact the owners are a phenomenal source of information. Only French is spoken; however we asked what should happen if a guest not understanding the language arrives; our most genial host explained that he would prepare the night before to accommodate this. Breakfast is an experience, with home made jams, yoghourts and fulsome servings of coffee and juices. Be on time for the welcome drinks and canapés upon check-in!

Le Club Vert du Perigord

Good for families on a budget

Reviewed By Maisiepaws1

We spent a week at Le Club Vert Perigord in June 2017. It is located just outside the town of Sarlat, France. It is up a steep hill in a quiet location nestled in woodland - not walking distance to the town as a steep climb back up the hill. The campsite consists of chalets and mobile homes. Small, quiet and safe - perfect for young families. There is a lovely pool and a small play area with swings and slide. Also there is an area for badminton, table tennis and boules. In need of some TLC as a little run down but our mobile home was very clean and had all the utensils and all the equipment for self catering. There is no air con so very hot if weather good - veranda outside mobile home very nice to have a drink at night. Owners are lovely and very helpful, you can book canoe trips through them and order fresh baguettes and croissants for breakfast. A lovely base to explore the beautiful area.Value for money.

Le Chateau Real

In the heart of the Médoc, Château Réal is a residence built around 1800. This former wine chateau offers upscale guest rooms and gîtes. Three hectares of vines are still attached to the property and are exploited by Château Serilhan in Saint-Estèphe under the label "Château Réal - Haut-Médoc - Cru Bourgeois" and "Château Cru Ducasse - Haut Médoc". Located halfway between Bordeaux and Soulac, near the wild banks of the Gironde, not far from the prestigious appellations of Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe, Château Réal is the ideal base for visiting the prestigious Châteaux of the Médoc. The ocean beaches, Lacanau, Hourtin, Montalivet are not far. The place is peaceful and conducive to relaxation and rejuvenation thanks to its swimming pool and very close nature.

Great stay at Chateau Real

Lovely stay at Chateau Real. A small property run by a young couple. Our group was well taken care of. The building is historic but the interior was recently renovated. Rooms are large and well appointed, and the pool area is lovely. The location is fantastic, as you are right in the middle of the vineyards of the Haut Médoc with easy access to St Estephe by bike (which the hotel offers for rental). Highly recommend as play to stay to visit vineyards, or just relax.

Fabulous first visit

Reviewed By je22

Visited for the first time with two friends in May 2022 and really loved it! We had excellent weather for May, bar one cloudy morning and rainy evening. We exchanged emails with the reception in advance as we were due to arrive in the lunch break. They were very helpful and arranged for our car number plate to be registered for entry at the barrier and for our rental bikes to be available. The resort is set in a really lovely wooded area and is quite spread out, so bikes are both necessary and enjoyable. Our rental bikes were in good order and definitely get the option with the baskets as these come in very hand for carrying towels, shopping etc. Our chalet (a Louisiana Comfort 3 bedroom) was in a really nice elevated position close to the golf course. It was well equipped and in good decorative order, although some parts were just slightly tired. We would not hesitate to ask for the same chalet again however-sitting on the terrace in the morning and the evening was especially enjoyable. The beds seemed quite new and were comfortable. We rented sheets and towels (for use in the chalet only) and got these at reception on arrival-basic but clean. Just to note that there is very little sound isolation between rooms! We used the mini market on site for bread, cheese etc, having stocked up at a larger outside supermarket during the drive over from the airport. We ate at the restaurant by the pool a few times and thought the food was tremendous for this sort of place. The pool complex is a lovely spot-3 pools one of which is more heated than the others plus showers etc and a sunbathing terrace. Again some parts are slightly tired but this in no way reduced our enjoyment. On to our two highlights-the beach and the golf course. The beach is paradise. It was slightly further away from the resort than we expected but easily reachable by bike in 3-4 minutes or a 10 minute walk. Although strictly not naturist, most people seemed to go from resort to beach nude and we certainly did! After the bike parking, there is a fairly steep climb by boardwalk over the dune and then what a view-miles of beach either side. Lovely sand (albeit v sticky) and the waves were great fun to jump and swim in-caution required here though as the currents are quite powerful. There was a (naked) life guard there some of the time. Nearly everyone else on the beach was also naked. The pool was universally naked (by rule) and there was a good level of nudity across the resort, including in the evening-albeit it rained one evening so everyone dressed then. The (6 hole) golf course is a truly lovely spot. It is naturist only and we really enjoyed playing naked and bare foot, albeit it did not seem to improve the standard of play! It was still on winter greens when we were there but was still great fun to play. We also enjoyed a drink on the club house terrace afterwards. Overall a really enjoyable experience in a wonderful place.

Stunning Beautiful base for cycling and exploring the magical Pyrenees.

Reviewed By maojvenn

I stayed here in early April for a short cycling break. It was the perfect place for a base to cycle up some of the famous Cols in the Pyrenees. The accommodation was superb and spotlessly clean. The views were breathtaking. The food was all home cooked, beautifully prepared, and just gorgeous! The English couple and their family were so friendly and couldn't have done anything more to make me feel more welcome and at home, the kids even gave me a hug when i left. P.S. bird watching paradise to boot...watched a Beaded Vultures fly over the house!!
