Not the best fish seafood in the area and the prices are expensive! Been to a handful of other seafood restaurants in the area and found both the quality of food and prices better! The layout is not great either! Service is excellent!

The service was excellent, very attentive, very nice... I think with a few minor tweaks the could be amazing... the shrimp were grilled to perfection.., but slightly over salted .... the fried green tomatoes were cooked perfectly.... but a bit under seasoned.... the gumbo tasted amazing.... but was not very hot.... the Cajun stuffed potato tasted great... the kids chicken fingers average.... not freshly cooked... but frozen and reheated. The location is beautiful with an amazing view... but the decor is outdated. ... but was just a bit dry. I’d certainly give it a try.

Based on one visit, I would rate the fillets and service at California Dreaming as fabulous! Laid back, indoor outdoor dining and totally cas place. The service was prompt and professional, drinks were adequate pours. Our glasses never went empty. The fillets were surprisingly delicious. Ordered med rare and both were cooked to perfect temperature. Absolutely fork tender. The loaded potatoes were OK, not served piping hot exactly but good. Entrees served perhaps a few minutes too soon as salads were only half consumed when steaks arrived. In sum, this seemed to be a well managed restaurant with a great menu and well trained staff. I will definitely return on my next visit to the area.

Our first visit here, and the food was excellent as was the service. Nice relaxing atmosphere (Except for the screaming baby several tables away!), and a very pleasant experience. May stop by again on the way back home. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that no warm rolls or bread was included. Should have been for the prices.

After a day visiting the USS Alabama Park, this was an ok place to stop. We had fried shrimp poeboys, steamed shrimp, crawfish tails. The gumbo was cold and missed the bite that a good gumbo is known for. The steamed shrimp dish had a sauce covering the shrimp that was a messy oily mess. Service was good, would probably try someplace different in the future.

Party of 4, Sunday 2-2:30. 5 tables filled in the main eating area, not sure of tables in other areas. Our waitress quickly introduced herself & took drink orders. 15 minutes later, water. No order. Had to flag her down to get our order placed. Crab bisque soup brought out. As always, this was delish. 15 min later, fried crab fingers (they were so over cooked the meat stuck to the inside thing). Never asked how they tasted, could see they weren’t being eaten. Would only dash by & day, I’ll be back in a minute. You order should be right up. Two male waiters in that same section noticed all 4 empty glasses and took care of it. They were cleaning & stocking tables. Our waitress kept walking to the bar or the order system in the dining room and standing there talking. Others took care of her tables. Meal takes another 35 minutes. Husband got the pile of shrimp grilled, so rubbery. Son had the chicken tenders grilled - super dry! Another adult had jumbo fried shrimp, good. I had the Parmesan crusted snapper with cream sauce - outstanding. But everyone’s greens were large & had huge pieces of stem in them. The cheese grits had NO salt in them whatsoever! She never even asked how everything was. Another server refilled drinks again. We’ve eaten at Ed’s more times than I can count. Service & food have always been great! Maybe this was an bad day for some of the crew, not sure. We did notice a young petite female manager that near the end of our meal started questioning servers & getting them busy. It will definitely be a long time before we darken the doors again. After spending over $100 on lunch plus tip, left very disappointed. They did give us a military discount when we asked this time. Normally they tell us they don’t do military discount. Hopefully this is a change in policy since they have two huge signs that say they support our military. We are sorry to hear about your recent experience here at Ed's. We strive to have better standards and the best service in the industry. Unfortunately that wasn't given to you as a valuable guest. If you could either call 251-625-1947 and ask for Matt (General Manager) or email him at: [email protected]. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

We normally stop at another restaurant (Felix’s) when passing through Mobile, but it was suggested that we try the Oyster House... boy were the right! Everything we had was great. Gumbo was probably the best I’ve ever had and the oyster sampler was perfect for lunch. My wife had broiled flounder and red beans and rice and loved every morsel of it. We definitely have a new lunch stop on our way to Destin from Texas.

We were a large group and true to form a line of waiters came out with 2 plates each stood behind every other guest and with uniform precision placed the diners in front of us. Unforgettable! The food is excellent, the view across Mobile Bay is a treat and the ambiance of the restaurant makes it a must stop. As it turned out we closed the place up. It was late, we kept the workers from going home and they were as gracious as can be.The building itself is worth stopping to see. There is ample parking. One enters along a very long ramp.Hi Guest!Thank you for the 5-Star rating of our restaurant! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience with us!We hope to see you again very soon.Sincerely,Cooper Restaurants
