To make a long story kind of short my fiance and I had sold our home and time of closing we had still not found a new home to live in so to get quotes for monthly Stays because we were unsure of when we would be able to find a new home we came across extended stay America in Port Charlotte Florida we spoke with one of the ladies at the front desk and told them our situation in what the best rate they could give us was as we were unsure of exactly how many months we would be staying they answered all our questions without a problem and had the best rates so we opted to go with them they reserved the room for us we checked in 2 days later upon our arrival property looked very well maintained plenty of parking and noticed there were lots of mini shopping centers right across the street which is very convenient with absolutely everything you may need from food to pet supplies to gas clothing it is all in one convenient location I walked in the main entrance to obtain our room keys for our reservations right when we walked in we noticed that it smelled and looked very beautiful and clean not to mention front desk was there to greet us with a smiling face and asked how they could help us we had let them know that we have a reservation online and were very quick on getting us our room keys now my wife has been in the hotel cleaning business since the age of 16 she is now 39 and is extremely picky about her hotel rooms as she has been the head housekeeper in many hotels and it's a little OCD as normal when visiting a hotel my wife goes batty looking at everything in the room and I mean everything to make sure that it was very clean no hair no dust and clean to her standards in which are very high like I said now she usually finds at least one thing wrong but to my surprise after she looked at everything from AC vents to beds to floors to bathroom to mirrors absolutely everything you can think of that is in a hotel room was clean that never happens with her looking in a room and also after inspection of the room wife went down to the front desk to let them know that she was very satisfied with the room and how clean it and very pretty also to let them know that during our stay no matter how long it was she would be taking care of cleaning our room due to the fact that we have a dog that is not very friendly with people because of the fact that she is very protective although we do have cage that we could keep her in if housekeeping was to come clean the room they said that it was not a problem they would keep it in the notes and also said whenever we needed any new linens to let them know and they will get them for us so we could bring them back to the room and bring our dirty ones to them they also have had dishes that we could use during our stay as they have mini range tops to cook on and full size refrigerator sink which is very convenient theme song for quite some time no matter how many times per day we were at front desk asking them for some kind of something or had some kind of question they always helped with a smiling face when others would get aggravated with someone going to front desk so often for some kind of supply or question and that goes for every single employee from head of housekeeping mella and her girls making sure the rooms were very clean and smelling good all common areas all front desk employees were very kind also always greeting you with a smile in asking you if you need something and how your stay what's going and asked if we needed anything and maintenance as I recall always seen him around whether it be outside on the ground making sure it was a very clean and well maintained to working inside of the hotel making sure all trash was out and everything was working properly never did I see him just sitting on his butt doing nothing now I will move on to the general manager his name was Trent in which I saw him around the hotel very often not just sitting in his office interacting with the guests making sure we were happy? Making sure if we had any questions or comments what time to listen and answer the best he could without making us feel as though he had better things to do than to help his guests at his hotel I can honestly say this hotel is one of the best I've ever stayed at from very friendly staff to be very clean and very well maintained kudos to you guys and if I ever need a hotel to stay in in Port Charlotte area again it will definitely without a doubt the extended stay America you are the real MVPs of all

Nice but not a resort and "$50 resort fees" lives a poor taste

Reviewed By Vinnie M

We only stayed a night. Would be better for a longer stay but without the resort fee. nice touches in room including coffee maker, nice bottles of shampoo, body wash in shower. convenient walk to several restaurants. easy access to beach. colorful pastel walls everywhere. Disliked · The $50 'resort fee" is a rip off. The place is mostly self service including the digital room key Limited parking in front and till next morning we did not realize there was more parking in back The smart lock is confusing and instructions are too limited to just send in a text message. The bed was creaky, not comfortable at night we could not easily find public access to beach so we trespassed through private property too many confusing emails and text messages every day - a PDF of the hotel and instructions would have been so much more convenient

Too many rules, too many eyeballs

Reviewed By introvertsrule x

I understand that the owners try to keep the place nice, but you can do that without turning the complex into a police state. We stayed in three different units many times throughout the 80s, 90s and present day, and the people who work at the Spanish Cay have never been friendly. All they do is scold and eyeball. The fellow unit owners are far from friendly. No children, no dogs, no bikes at the pool (how many bikes at a time do you think there would be), no bikes in owners' bike racks, let's not even get into the pool rules, and you are eyed with suspicion if you are a privacy-seeking introvert. The last time we stayed the neighbors below were very noisy but they never get scolded. You don't like our very good business, we'll go elsewhere.

schrecklich

Reviewed By Redmoon2
