Great weekend, but unit needs some attention

Reviewed By sw7475

We stayed in a unit managed by a local estate agent. Their service was great. The service staff at the resort were great too. The apartment was tired and needed attention. The front door doesn't lock from the inside, the kitchen bin I broken, lots of luvers from the plantation shutters were broken or missing. No DVD remote, the TV on picked up 3 channels that were glitchy. Only one remote for the 2 upstairs aircons - if you turn one on it turned the other off. The water pressure in the shower was very inconsistent Overall we made it a great getaway, but disappointed for the money paid. The resort was in a great location and loved that courtesy buses came to pick us up for local pubs

Pleasant but Overpriced

Reviewed By Royshot

Had a pleasant 5 days. Staff were excellent as was the amenities and view. Feel that it was overpriced for what we got. A ROOM WITH NO DRAWS to put our folded clothes. Were told that all the rooms were like this and on leaving saw the manager and questioned him and he didn't seem to perturbed. I've done a lot of traveling and never had a room like this. (the rooms were of a good size). Also the carpet from reception to the dining room was worn out and needs to be replaced. The restaurant was most enjoyable. Besides this, our stay was very pleasant and we would probably stay there again providing there were draws in the room.

Landmark Resort-a great gem at Nelson Bay. Apartments to suit large and small family groups & extended family getaways.

We loved the resort so much we came back for another visit. We came with extended family, each with our own apartment. As expected the rooms were clean and presentable and fitted with quality inclusions and appliances. The balcony rooms offer great views of Port Stephens and access to the wild birds. The in-house restaurant (The Nelson Way) offers a great range of meals to suit most tastes and are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They even offer the meals as takeaway if you want to enjoy it in your room. Great option for getaways with rooms or room combinations to suit the number of guests in your party.

Stunning position … update recommended

Reviewed By annagram09

Amarna resort is in a stunning position overlooking beautiful Dutchman’s beach at Nelson Bay. The staff were very professional and helpful. Breakfast provisions for the first morning were a lovely welcome touch. A boutique hotel, with spacious rooms but appartments on the ground floor lack privacy as they are beside the pool and it’s disconcerting when people look into your living room & kitchen. Better and quieter to be on the next floor up! The hotel was only 50% full on the 3 days midweek that we stayed. We were very happy except for some guests not adhering to the terms and conditions that are agreed when booking. On our first day another guest parked in our allocated parking space for 101 twice despite the staff’s requests to use their allocated parking space. On our second day a family kept yelling out at the pool encouraging and cheering every time their young child jumped into the pool from the ledge of the spar right outside our apartment. It went on for well over 1/2 hour. We kept hoping they would stop after a few times, but despite that they could see us sitting in our outside area, even when it got dark and our lights turned on, it continued. We had to go inside, it was so loud. From inside our living room I eventually heard the mother say the child must come in for his bath, to our relief after a couple more jumps they left. The Amarna could do with a facelift and update as signs of wear are evident. The huge mirrors in our bathroom and walkway were badly stained and tarnished, the dated built-in coffee machine ought to be replaced with a current user friendly Nespresso machine. The decor and colours are in need updating to a more current style for a luxury resort in such a beautiful position. Perhaps more car spaces need to be allocated to those who book into penthouses or larger appartments.

Girls Weekend Away

Wanderers Retreat, well it is a retreat. Closed off from the outside world. We stayed in the Beach House . 3 ladies each in a queen room. Bedroom 1 - still has the old timber bed and mattress. The bed was not comfortable for me as it was hard. The other 2 queen beds were new ensembles and much more comfortable. The carpet in the main bedroom had many stains. The carpet is showing its age so to speak. The bathrooms were large and just standard. We found the old white shower enclosures were stained and looked dirty. The toilets being an eco type composting toilet were fine, no smell at all fantastic product! The kitchen had everything you needed and was clean and tidy. There was a musty smell to the house, but that would be from being in a rain forest type of surround and the amount of rainfall to the area. Outside we had use of a 6/8 person spa and it was great! Bruce cleaned it daily. Friendly Possums lived in the little houses provided and were not a concern. Friendly Magpies also stopped by for a snack and chat. Vivienne and Bruce are easy to converse with and all in all a lovely place to stay.
