Ya-Go River Lodge

Good value for money

We needed a hotel close to Tamsui MRT Station as this is the area where my wife’s parents live. We had passed Ya-Go on previous visits and decided to try it out. We were very pleased with our decision. The reception operates 24 hours which was convenient as we arrived in Taipei after midnight. The staff were friendly and helpful and reception staff spoke adequate English. The room was a reasonable size. It was clean. The bed was harder than I prefer but typical of local hotels. Aircon and wifi were good. The shower was a good size with plenty of hot water. The buffet breakfast was a simple Chinese selection but sufficient variety and quantity. The only negative is that direct access from the road is via steps and cobblestones which were a challenge for suitcases.

Chill Chill House

Great spot, but bring cash

No spot in Baishawan takes cards. And there are only 3 restaurants and 3 convenience shops. But Chill Chill is an awesome spot to relax and enjoy the northern Taiwan seas. Definitely recommend, but bring cash and maybe your own food (kitchen available).

Ok

For the short stays only, max 1 night. It’s not that cheap but far away from all interesting areas of the city. The room was spacious but furniture and bathroom were old. This hotel is non-smoking but there was strong smell of tobacco in the room. No reception, no staff, no European adapter - only Taiwanese power sockets and no places around where you can buy a plug and no hotel staff which can help you with it.
