I really liked this hotel

I would like to stay here again. The location is great, the front desk staff were awesome. We loved the view from our window. This hotel is relatively large, with wonderful landscaping in the pool/courtyard. One thing to note: we stayed on a Saturday night and there is no “free” breakfast on Sunday morning.

Passable

Clean enough, just old. Hallway carpeting tearing up and molding missing. Couch and carpet in our room stained. Mini fridge/freezer had defrosted and was wet inside. Not a fan of the room design, which required you to touch the bathroom door handle in order to reach the sink and wash your hands. Mattress uncomfortable. Generally quiet, expect for one employee banging on the back door trying to get let in cause he forgot his key card. The staff was friendly and maybe they're doing their best with an older hotel. It's just okay.

Great weekend spent at Blue Heron Inn

Reviewed By sjtam

We had a wonderful two night stay at the Blue Heron Inn. Our suite was very spacious and comfortable, with quiet central AC, ample clothing storage in multiple oversized bureaus, a ceiling fan, fridge with freezer, and a huge bathroom with steam shower. The room also had a nice (shared) porch balcony overlooking the harbor and a small sitting/dressing room. You can’t beat the location, which is right in the middle of Solomons and close walking distance to everything. The Inn itself is set back from the main street, so it’s quiet and feels secluded in the typically busy little tourist town. There are several dining tables set up along the first floor porch , making for an extremely pleasant and semi-private outdoor setting for breakfast (or take out meals later in the day or eve) . Breakfast by Regan was fantastic; rolled cheese omelets, spinach, apricot cheese puff pastry, and fresh melon on our first morning, and breakfast sliders (thoughtfully prepared the eve before) for us to bring on our early morning fishing trip on the second AM. There is a seafood food truck “ Steamers” available all day in the parking lot of the culinary school/catering company “NoThyme to Cook” next door, which also offers excellent cocktails and wines on their comfortable porch and outdoor seating on a small beach. You can also purchase a bottle here to bring to your room. The Lotus Kitchen, known for its pies, is right in front of the inn, Lighthouse restaurant is two doors down. The Tiki Bar is a three minute walk away, as is the Pier restaurant, Charles Street Brasserie, and Island Hideaway.

I was sleeping when the sound of water running woke me up. There was a leak in the room above mine. I started to ignore it but for the cost I couldn’t ignore it. I was offered another room but I didn’t want it. My stay was ruined. I was told that It would be fixed it wasn’t.

the first clue there’s a problem is you can’t even find the front door to the hotel. there are several doors as you approach the premises. you don’t know which is the proper entrance. so, they don’t know anything about hospitality. the front desk staff were too young males dressed in a T-shirt. they didn’t seem to know how to check a guest in. lobby is cluttered with big furniture in the way. The GOOD: it’s on the water. The restaurant food was rather decent but overpriced for the quantity I received. I bought a meal that cost 30 and I was still hungry so I bought another meal totaling paying $60. my rockfish was a ti y piece flat end piece. dining area was empty during the early afternoon. yet, the hostess had to go to the kitchen to get someone to seat me. the server seemed very inexperienced as well. The BAD: there's a resort fee. the rooms are very outdated and old rundown needs maintenance. I had a balcony charged extra for it. it wasn’t worth the extra charge couldn’t really see the water and all I could see was construction of a new building and tops of air conditioning units. and there was a lot of noise. The UGLY: the casino slots is very very dark and all the lights were turned off and the window shades were down. the layout was poorly designed. It was hot inside and poor air ventilation. the slot machines kept turning off and needed to be reset but you couldn’t find a worker to reset the machines. it was very annoying and distracting. no one wore a mask, and the machines were filthy and had tape holding parts in place. The elevator to the upper floor slots area was very jumpy and made a lot of noise. it felt unsafe, and the stairs are very very steep. I recommend you to stay on the first floor. overall. I did not feel welcomed.

Disappointed

Reviewed By billandtammy

We chose to stay at this location to spend some time with family at their pools. Both the indoor and the outdoor pools are closed. I spoke with the front desk who said that the indoor pool has been closed for sometime and the outdoor pool doesn’t open for another two weeks. I was told they tried to have the pool info updated on the website with Hilton but have not been successful. This is a total bust of a trip. I am still waiting to see if the GM will comp some of the cost of our room, but even a complimentary room doesn’t cover the kids disappointment.
