9 Resorts in Napa Valley: Best hotel deals for 2023

May 16, 2023 Lashaunda Abraham

Vines, wines and the people who love them are central to the economy of Napa Valley. Other treats for taste buds are in store, too, in the form of local olive oils, tomatoes, cheeses and mustard. The other senses are catered for with a vibrant visual arts scene. Rent a car or book a taxi or limousine to get between sights safely. The Napa Valley Wine Train offers an unusual way to experience the views and vintages. A relaxing array of spas and mud baths and the Old Faithful geyser are attractions in Calistoga.

Calistoga Motor Lodge and Spa

The Calistoga Motor Lodge and Spa located just 40 scenic minutes north of the City of Napa and 75 scenic miles from San Francisco is an epic ode to the Great American Road Trip of the 50's, 60's, and 70's, and the spirit of exploration it evokes. Whether it's backroad wine country or a relaxing mineral bath, it's anything but ordinary. We at the Calistoga Motor Lodge believe that a hotel is more than a bed and that life is best lived in this order: play, soak, eat, drink, spa, explore, sleep, repeat. With this in mind, we set-out to create an experience that will make you want to return again and again. A leisurely bike ride to one of the dozens of nearby vineyards, a lazy day in the sun at the pool, a long soak with a glass of local wine in our hot spring mineral pools, or a overdue massage at our MoonAcre Spa and Baths. Worst Concierge

Reviewed By caelanf10

This was one of the worst concierge experiences that a hotel has given me and I have traveled to 37 countries and stayed at multiple top hotels around the world. There were more instances of rude and unknowledgeable staff members than I even realized upon my stay. They were clueless on the reservation process and made me wait for 30-45 minutes upon arrival to resolve the check-in fiasco. Teri Foster was incompetent at canceling one of the reservations. When asked to re-book the room under another name, the same day within the same hour, she said they had no rooms available and communicated this via phone call, but hung up on that customer and through an email. Upon arrival the front desk informed me that they had three rooms available but to call reservations to verify. Silverado clearly does not have a cohesive communication system between multiple departments and has issues relaying critical information to their customers. The second issue with arrival was ensuring that our total reservations and incidental charges would be charged to the card on file and holding the reservation. This was not the case! I was charged multiple times from another credit card that the front desk informed me was needed to put down and after three days of being checked out, have not refunded the money to my card and charged the card that was holding the reservation. I will not be staying ever again at Silverado, nor will I let any of my friends, co-workers, or family stay here because of how poorly the service is at this resort.

Insurmountable Incompetence, False Advertising

712 acres is what’s advertised but maybe 700 acres are completely untouchable by guests of the resort. Guests can access the jam-packed parking lot, the jam-packed checkin cabin, the jam-packed coffee shop, the jam-packed pool, the jam-packed restaurant, the jam-packed gravel roads between everything, and, of course, the rooms which are jam-packed with vermin and pests and heat and humidity but completely devoid of proper furnishings and amenities. There are employees everywhere. Turn around and you trip over two or three. Absolutely every everywhere at all times in all locations there are employees clogging up the roads, walking aimlessly, driving erratically, on their phones, taking selfies, talking amongst themselves, and complaining. Oh my dear word the complaining. Nobody has any answers or solutions, all they do is pout and shout that they don’t know, they aren’t aware, that they weren’t trained, one even went so far as to say she was severely underpaid and would be leaving soon. Employees everywhere, but quality nowhere. We spent a lot of money getting here, we spent a lot of money being here, and all we received was excuses and apologies and many other forms of excuses and apologies.
