This splendid and warm XVI century building, ancient University of Santa Catalina with its original plateresque facade and its Renaissance cloister, is the first real hostel 4 star in Castilla y Leon. The hotel has 70 rooms, cafeteria, restaurant, play room for children, Internet area, meeting rooms and banqueting rooms as well as indoor swimming-pool. It also has a thermal area under its Renaissance courtyard of around 1500m, with thermal pools, contrasts circuit and thermal treatments areas as usual in the hotels of the Castilla Termal chain. Very pleasant stay despite COVID restrictions
Reviewed By stevejnbClearly the hotel was doing everything it could to maintain a safe place to stay and we did feel safe. We had a huge room to accommodate 2 adults and a child. The beds were ultra comfortable and we had great shower pressure. The building is very old (15th century) but very well kept inside. Underground parking was a must and a very reasonable 7€ a night. The town of Burgo de Osma is lovely but seemed to lack restaurants. The restaurant in the hotel had great food but service was very disorganized. Overall I’d be happy to stay here again. I’m sure my experience would be even better without safety restrictions.

Reviewed By Veggrower1The entrance lobby sets the tone. Magnificent staircase and chandelier and lovely pieces of old furniture dotted about, many from churches. Bedrooms clean and comfortable with en suite marble bathrooms. Continental breakfast lovely with good choices. Juices, cereal, breads, jams, pastries, meat, cheese, fruit, cakes, tea/coffee. TIP: Quietist rooms at rear of building 106 - 114 with view of square. Highly recommended.

Hotel with a Cathedral View
Reviewed By Brenda CA lovely hotel just out of the town but with a great view of the Cathedral which is flood light a nights, it' just a short walk away along side the river.Ask for a room a t the front for the view on 2nd or 3 rd floor.The al la carte restaurant is well worth it with a great selection of local top quality dishes and impecable service.The other restaurant is self service.Very good value hotel!!

Decent budge accommodation
Reviewed By tsatsaroglouVisiting the Duero region and looking for accommodation, Burgo de Osma was our place of choice, a pleasant small town with remarkable history and several monuments. Accommodation is either top end or budget. Hostal Mayor 71 is situated in the center and our room had a small balcony on the main pedestrian street right opposite the episcopal palace. It was a weekday, so the street was quiet. The room was spacious, had TV and wifi, the bathroom was basic but clean. We were shown an interior room first which was a bit depressing, so be sure to ask for an exterior front room. The lobby has a coffee vending machine and tables where one can sit and surf on the internet, as signal is somewhat weak in the room. The reception is actually the only disadvantage, since there isn't always someone there to attend. If you are elderly or travel with heavy luggage, note that you have to climb a flight of stairs to reach reception and rooms. But it is a hostel not a hotel, so for 30 euros a night for a double room with private bathroom it was definitely very good value for money.

Basic & Comfortable
Reviewed By nesloThis is a Hospederia only 100 metres from the Plaza Mayor (a hive of activity in the evenings) and located on the main road but remarkably quiet at night since the by-pass was constructed. The rooms are fine with plenty of storage space including drawers and enough space under the beds to park the cases. All very clean and well maintained. The hot water was never hot during our 4 nights but was overall adequate. Parking not a problem despite being on the road. It’s a great pity that they only offer breakfast (toast, orange juice, cakes and coffee) because the small dining room is quite comfortable and would be a nice dining area. Would certainly stay again. Despite no English being spoken the management were very helpful when I damaged my knee when out walking.

Good but lots of little problems

Apartment is in a building containing several holiday rentals opposite the cathedral. Fantastic location. No car parking but there is a small public car park round the corner. We had no difficulty finding space but in high season you might. Apartment was on first floor. Looked like there was a lift but it wasn't working. There is an open plan kitchen/lounge/dining room which is tastefully furnished. Views of cathedral from the front window in lounge. Kitchen not well equipped even for basic cooking. We ended up just eating salad and that had to be served in a saucepan. No wine glasses, kettle, cereal bowls or tea towels and very limited utensils. 2 ring induction hob, old microwave and filter coffee maker. Fridge with small freezer/ice box. It's a shame there is no oven or washing machine. Bedroom also nicely furnished. Terrace leading off bedroom is large but not really somewhere you'd want to sit. There is a small plastic table and 2 chairs. Bathroom a little dated. No bath mat which is a shame as the shower leaks. No plug for the bath so couldn't use it. Included wifi was very slow, repeatedly cut out or just not available for long periods. The night before we left the manager brought a booster in but that made no real difference. Noise in the building really travels. You can hear everything from the stairwell and apartment above. Bedroom is at the back so no street noise. I wouldn't stay here again unless self catering was absolutely necessary.
