First trip to Bulgaria ??

- Check in and room We travelled from the airport via taxi which was approx 20 minutes. Check in like most hotels is at 1400 and check out at 1200. There was a luggage room and shower area near the indoor pool. You are able to keep your room on for longer but we did not enquire the cost due to an early flight. After check out you are able to keep your AI band and have full use of facilities. The hotel is set over two blocks with the majority of rooms having a pool and beach view. Our initial room had a large double bed and a single bed. There is a small tv and a kettle can be asked for from reception but you will need to take the tea from the bar. There is a safe in the wardrobe but this is at an extra cost. We moved room due a few problems and were given a family room. This had a double bed in 1 room and then a further 2 sofa beds ( 1 single 1 double) in the "lounge area". There were both very hard and uncomfortable. For any one with mobility issues this hotel may be troublesome. There are many stairs that lead down to the beach in which there is no other way to access this. Access to the pool and restaurant/bar is all on the flat. - Location/Surrounding The hotel is situatied within the Nesebar New Town. Outside the hotel are retaurants and shops. You can walk to the main strip within 10minutes of the hotel. The old town is more historical and is a Unesco herritage site. This can be reached within a 15 minute walk and has many shops and restaurants as well as a very small beach. From the harbour here you can catch a taxi boat to Sunny Beach which is 10 Lev per person. There is a bus stop within 2 minutes of the hotel where you can catch a bus to Sunny Beach (2 Lev per person). You can also catch a bus to Burgas, Sozopol, the airport and many other places. There is cash point/bank is just behind the bus stop. Do not use the yellow ATM's dotted around as they have a high fee. This area is much more quite then Sunny Beach. If youre looking for a party scene then Sunny Beach would be a better location. Pool- There is one outside pool in the centre of the hotel which has a small kids pool. Neither of these are heated and we only saw 1 or 2 people venture in in the 1 week we were there. There are a few sun beds around the pool but there did not seem enough for the amount of rooms if the hotel were full. They are possibly the most uncomfy sun beds I have ever used! Very hard plastic and would benefit from a cushion. Pool towels are provided in your room on check in but I am not sure where these are changed during your stay. There is also an indoor pool which is heated however still very cold and we did not use this. Beach- The hotel has access to a beach which is advertised as private but i dont think this is the case. It is very shallow and you can easily walk 20m from the shore and only be waist deep. It is also very calm with minimal waves. Each room is meant to have access to 2 sun beds and 1 parasol during there stay. These were not put out until our 5th day there so did not have much use despite other hotels having them out all week. There is beach bar however this was not open at all during our stay so cannot comment on this. As I said previous if you have mobility problems then this may be a problem due to many steps and no slope or lift. Food/Drink- Breakfast is a selection of ceral, bread, cold meats and cheese along with a full english style set up and fresh omlettes and eggs. Lunch and dinner are the same set up but different foods each day. A selection of salads, vegetables, meats, fish and pasta. All though the flavours were tasty most times it was cold even if you get there within 20 minutes of the restaurant opening. The pool bar is also a snack bar during the day. They do fresh pizza there which is very good along with hot dogs and ice creams. The lobby bar is open all day from 0900-0000. Dimitra makes some very good cocktails. I recommend his Mojito and the cloud. Entertainment- The entertainment team try and do there best to provide different types of games and fun. This was with darts, jenga and bocca however there is nothing to entertain yourself with between times such as poole table, table tennis etc. In the evenings there is also no entertainment at all or even any live music or atmosphere. Emo and Vicki did there best and were very good at mixing with guests. A suggesstion would be live shows or even kareoke. Something to pass the time in the evening as at times was boring. One thing we noticed was after a large organised group arrived quauality around the hotel seemed to improve. This was when the food changed and hotel placed there sun beds on the beach. I feel regardless of how many guests you have in the hotel the standards and quality should always be high and we feel this was not the case. We did have a few issues with the room but this was rectified quickly, thank you. Thank you to Demetra, Emo and Vicki for making our holiday enjoyable!

Fabulous holiday

Very well maintained hotel. Pleasant, friendly staff, most had a smile at some point during the day! The food was very edible, a lot was repeated every night, mainly the salads, cold meats, cheeses etc. The hot food was varied each night. Always something for my fussy children to eat! Rose wine was very nice, the lager however, was very gassy, pour slowly. All the swimming pools were clean and well maintained. The water slides were fun, if a little crowded at peak times. Loads of shade and brollies, if you moved around. Having direct access to the beach was a great bonus, as we all love a snorkel in the swim, lots of fish to see. Evening entertainment was good, but should be on a 14 day repeat and not 7 day, as we saw some shows twice! The magician left a lot to be desired, even the children worked out how he did the tricks! Rooms were always clean, with fresh towels every day, even when we didn’t need them. Complete mix of nationalities, stopped it feeling like Butlins! Evening thunderstorms were fun and stopped it feeling too hot and stuffy. Happy holiday, children were sad to leave.

Agree with everything amblealan has mentioned in their review, extremely good value, plenty of choice at every meal, lovely room with space and storage and privacy, city facing rooms get sun on balcony until sunset - the rooms you don’t pay extra for with Jet2 bus stop outside the door, flat easy walking locally and in Sunny Beach which is mainly pedestrianised/promenade - not too busy at the moment during daytime, but may not be for everyone in high season, but great to see and massive beach area all very well kept. Had a lovely safe holiday here and would recommend. The Ukrainian women and children on site made the hotel a lot busier than expected for the time of year, neither the hotel or Jet2 gave us any information about the arrangement.

Re-Visit after 10 years Sol Nessebar complex

Reviewed By Mr M

We visited Sol Nessebar Mare approximately 10 years ago, we loved every minute of that visit. When we saw a deal come up for the Sol Nessebar Bay, we thought we would give it ago again, hoping that the standards had not changed and we could once again have a fantastic holiday. The standard for Bulgarian 5 star was met by far, it was better than 10yrs ago, they had added to the splash park, the food was just as good if not better, the staff are all very friendly, the hotel its self is very clean, as was the rooms. You could want for nothing, during the day, the pool bar at Palace, put on constant hot pizza's freshly made, and chips, ice creams, donuts, and fresh apples. Around the the site at other pools there was also other bars that did food and drinks. There is something at the Sol Nessebar complex for everyone if you want quiet and relaxing or something for the kids, they have it. It got quite busy during our stay due to the English half term break from schools, I think if you went inbetween the school holidays it would be less busy. We would definitely recommend.

The best family holiday at a truly amazing hotel ❤️

Reviewed By 90stepht

Writing this review whilst still at this hotel due to the miserable weather. We have been here a week tomorrow and leave in the morning unfortunately for us the weather hasn’t been the greatest but we certainly haven’t let that affect our holiday. First of all the hotel is beautiful. The staff are very friendly and the animation team are amazing! I have never seen so many cleaning staff either. The hotel and pool area are kept very clean all the time. When heavy rain or thunderstorms are expected the waterpark does not open but we did manage to get 3 days in there out of 7 which was good enough for us! It’s amazing in there. There are small slides for babies/toddlers. My 9 year old was able to go on all the bigger slides. There’s a wave pool that comes on for 20 minutes every hour. There is a corner towards the back of the water park where all inclusive guests can get food and drinks. There is a different variety of food over there from the hotel which is a nice change. The food in the Buffett restaurant is okay, as with most all inclusive resorts the food is quite repetitive. There’s the usual bread, salad, chips, pasta, pizza that is on every day. We didn’t try the fusion restaurant as we are not big fish eaters however I do believe that it is just fish that is served in there now and that’s why they changed the name to fusion. The Italian was gorgeous though, the pizzas were really nice and better than the daily pizzas cooked in the main restaurant. Snack bars during the day are really good too. Drinks are good, cocktails do come from a machine and are okay but they all seemed to very sweet. On site mini market is open 9am-23.30pm which is handy. They sell cigarettes in there too 65 leva for sleeve of B&H gold. There also a toy shop and a gift shop too. There’s four pool tables, you have to pay 10 leva at reception for the balls. I assume this will be the same for the snooker table. Bowling costs 10 leva per person. The arcade games are all 1 token. 1 token is 2 leva. There is an indoor pool which gets quite busy when the weather is bad as you can imagine but it was a life saver for us. There’s a spa which you can pay to have different treatments however all guests can you the sauna and steam rooms. There is one steam room and 3 saunas. Kids are also allowed in as long as they are supervised which is handy if you don’t want to drop your children at kids club like us. There’s plenty of activities to get involved in, darts, killer pool, beer pong, basketball, football just too name a few. The kids club is open 9.30-12.30 14.00-16.00 (I think) and there’s a playground and a soft indoor play area. Taxis are located outside the hotel entrance which is really handy, they have a list of prices in the window. We took a taxi to sunny beach. My partner and children went on the jet skis and crazy UFO. Jet ski was 120 leva for my son and partner for half an hour and the UFO was 60 leva for 3 people. There’s a guy there who takes photographs and you can buy these for between 10-30 leva. There is a section on the beach that is free to use if you just want to sit on your towel, if not the sunbeds are 9 leva each and 9 leva for an umbrella. There’s also a guy that comes round selling fresh fruit and takes drinks orders although we didn’t buy anything as we went to the shop on the way. Overall our stay was fab, can not fault the hotel there is plenty to do especially when the weather isn’t great. And I would definitely recommend to my family and friends. Thank you aqua paradise for the perfect holiday ❤️

Bilyana Beach Hotel

Hotel Bilyana Beach is in the town of Nessebar, on the eastern Bulgarian coastline overlooking the Black Sea. The hotel opens out onto a sandy beach and is a short walk from Nessebar's historic old town. The rooms and public areas of the hotel are modern and neutrally decorated, and you'll find plenty of spaces to relax. During your stay at Bilyana Beach, you can enjoy some pampering in the hotel's spa where you'll find a Turkish bath, a heated indoor pool and a sauna. You can also book a variety of treatments there. If you want to maintain your fitness regime, you can head over to the gym for a workout. There's an outdoor pool area where you can either sit and relax, or take a swim with views over the ocean. Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, and there's a mini market on site. The beach is steps away from the hotel and has shallow waters, making it safe for swimming. While you're there, you'll have the chance to join in with water sports organised by the hotel staff. Nessebar town centre is a short walk from the hotel, and the old town area has many shops and market stalls where you can pick up a souvenir. You can also wander to the harbour to try out the local seafood while enjoying the views of the old fishing boats. In the evenings, you can explore the local bars in the town that serve drinks late into the night.

Below our expectations

Reviewed By Coastal59076803796

Our stay was from 27.07 to 03.08.2021. When we got to the hotel we found out that the hotel’s parking is like 500m away. They will tell you it’s like 100-200m, but it’s not… it’s actually at about 500m and you have to pay cash, no card payment available, and it’s like a field with cars, on dirt… So we decided to park near the hotel and it was ok, until our car got towed so we had to pay 50 leva to get it back. The hotel is stated as a 18+ hotel, adults only, but it’s not… There were also kids from 8 to 16 years. At least there weren’t any babies or so… I’ll leave you with our pros and cons : PROs: - Big rooms, nice bathrooms - electric kettle and coffee machine in room - nice views - private beach - free beach sun beds - good food and good variation of food - some seafood (mussels and calamari) and sushi was served, but only for 1 dinner - the SPA which is GREAT ! CONs: - cleanliness - 6/10 - as the hotel maids just make your bed and change the towels, they don’t clean the room or bathroom and they don’t leave other bathroom amenities - we had to ask for soap and shower gels. They didn’t even take out the trash. - the beach is full of cigarette buds and they don’t clean the beach from day to day - they say the minibar is included and filled daily, ours was empty from the beginning to the end. So no minibar in room - all inclusive drinks are poor, beer felt stale, wines are awful, liquors are “meh”… - no beach bar, only pool bar …so get ready to walk for a beer and stand in line, as there is only one bartender - no music on the beach or pool, not even on low volume - no private parking near the hotel - very poor entertainment in the evening and practically no entertainment during the day, except for “aqua fit” and some yoga. Reading the past reviews we had great expectations, but we came to find that the reality is different. Talking to the staff, they said the hotel used to have better drinks and facilities/amenities, but something changed… too bad.
