Reviewed By Geneve-SPWe have spent some very pleasant days at Peanut Lodge, with an informal but attentive attention to the customers lead by a very energetic and young team. The hotel has a super atmosphere and all what is necessary for the guest to feel great: comfortable beds in pleasant room, exquisite breakfast, a highly recommended restaurant and a sauna as a gift for the end of the day. Many thanks to Ben and all the team that attended us!

Gem of a hotel in a quiet part of the Portes du Soleil region
Reviewed By Deese PJust returned from a 1 week stay with family. This is a lovely hotel with a very warm atmosphere, a friendly owner and staff who are always smiling. Rooms: very nice rooms, spacious and generally light, though the bathrooms are small with only a dispensing shower gel provided (you will need to take your own toiletries). The beds are fantastically comfortable. The showers are terrific. Old fashioned to look at but they belt out hot water! Food: breakfast is great; continental breakfast with cereals, fruit and the most amazing fresh bread. Half board is available on request, the menu is okay, but limited / simple for children. Bar area: bar open every day, Whole area is quite dark, (not sure it would be easy to read a book / paper there etc), but there is a roaring fire which is brilliant after a long day skiing. It does have a cozy feel to it all. Facilities: All in the basement and really impressive. Boot room is quite large, opens out to the front of the hotel. There is also an indoor swimming pool (wonderful for kids) , a sauna, steam room and gym. Other: Ski hire shop is right next door and accessible from the hotel as well. Owner sorts out lift passes and provides them on day 1 of skiing. Location: If you are a good skier, you can literally cross the road at the front of the hotel and ski down a short run (not a piste) to the drag lift at the bottom which then takes you to a chair lift. For beginners or low intermediates, you are probably better to walk about 400 metres (downhill on the way there, uphill on the way back) to the beginners area and ski school (Le Virage). Perfectly manageable but a bit tiring wearing ski boots and carrying skis. We had a super holiday - a great place to ski in the quieter part of Portes du Soleil, and you can reach the whole area easily - but some of the pistes to get there and those to get back (red runs) are tricky in parts. Very nice people, no queues and highly recommended!

Great MTB weekend in a wonderful place
Reviewed By Flyer31Hotel Communal is perfectly suited to explore the Champery area for MTB touring, in the center of Val d'Illiez very near to the train station. Take e. g. the pathway through Champoussin to Pointe de Moissette (2300m) - Cheese farm "Chez Gaby" a perfect luch stop in Champoussin. And home e. g. through Touvassiere (NOT Lac Vert!) and Morgins. Or the wonderful more shadowy forest tour to Barme/Cantine de Barmaz ... this is a secluded high valley with many further possibilities. The hotel people very friendly, the rooms very nice and clean, the breakfast rich and with great local products. The hotel has a first class gourmet restaurant, and there is a nice more simple village bistro on the other side of the village court.

Le Poussin hostel is situated in the Swiss Alps in the Portes du Soleil ski area. We are open winter and summer time. It is a great location with fascinating views! In the winter you just step out of your room straight on to the slopes. In the summer you have wonderful mountain paths to explore the Swiss Alps.
Perfect for an off-season stay
Reviewed By danperez28My friend and I passed through Champoussin on our way to the Dents du Midi trail and stayed one night. Traveling from the U.S., we arrived at the Val d'Illiez train station to find not much in English. Calling Hostel Le Poussin, I spoke with Nanoe who arranged for another hotel employee to pick us up in his car (great hospitality!). Even though we were there in the off-season, we enjoyed hiking around the stunning grounds of the hotel. We also enjoyed the food and beverages in the hotel. The staff (Nanoe, Ilber and Florian) were extremely friendly and we loved hanging out and chatting with them. The room was very clean and the entire hotel was wonderful. As with most traveling, the best experiences are the unplanned ones (as was this). However, I would highly recommend anyone in the area to book a stay here, whether for skiing in the winter, or simply enjoying the amazing scenery in the spring, summer or fall. Two thumbs up and extremely recommended!

Superbe appartement
Reviewed By 463c_dricsNous avons réservé un appartement dans cet endroit pour skier et pour qu’un membre de notre famille qui ne skie pas puisse profiter des bains. Malheureusement les bains ont fait faillite et étaient fermés. Le loueur, d’une extrême gentillesse et générosité nous a alors proposé d’annuler la réservation gratuitement au vu de la situation. Nous avons refusé et il nous a alors accordé un rabais en nous proposant un deal avec un hôtel proche pour profiter de leur zone wellness. L’appartement loué est impeccable et bénéficie de tout ce qu’il faut pour passer un agréable moment. Notre contact, Yvan est une personne agréable et qui cherche à ce que l’on passe un très bon moment chez lui. Un grand merci à lui ??
