Huge room, friendly staff

We booked one of the rooms with a Jacuzzi tub. The room was massive, with a kitchenette when you walk in, massive room, and a Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Staff were very friendly. Lots of food options nearby. Great for a night stopover during a California road trip.

One Star

Could write quite a book about why the one stars have been worse for wear at this property and especially being there is no Security at all...never again. If anybody else remembers there was a night there was a horrible argument that sounded like gunshots. No maid service or towels. Not the best aea either and be careful with the speeding drivers both directions on Newbury. Could say alot more but keep your stay brief. Dogs not on leashes and poop everywhere, as in many public places, which is sad. No cameras; bear that in mind. I also don't like staff calling out my room number but alot of hotels do that. Never booked more than 2 days here, justifiably. There were some plusses about this place but they seemed to be disappearing. Ice was highly unreliable and many times just one machine had ice. Another guest said something that made us very ill at ease around April. I just like to warn others, but you may feel fine staying there. No pet or parking fees when we were there. Staff still do a great job, considering, but if you have a better lodging option try to invest in it.

Very happy with this for family with kids - great pool!

Reviewed By Jessica S

Very happy with this hotel. We had a 2 king room (who even knew this was a thing?), which was great with my two kids. We loved the heated outdoor pool and hot tub - awesome. That was the best part. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean. Only downside is that our tub drained slowly.

It's Okay Overall

Location is excellent as it's near the 101 but it's not noisy and the rate is reasonable. The hotel is a little dated which is reflected in the rate I paid. My room was clean and the breakfast was very simple. But I would stay here again.

Bargain Price = Bargin Place

Reviewed By Joseph G

The fact that this establishment was $50 a night cheaper than the comparable Hilton product should have set off more bells in my mind. I thought I scored a bargain. What I scored was a Marriott property which fell far short of the Marriott standards to which I have become accustomed. (A) at check in my Lifetime Gold status was not acknowledged and I was told the facility was full so no upgrades. Additionally no early check in. (B) I asked the front desk about the included breakfast, as the breakfast room was barricaded closed. Her response was that it wasn't much. And she was right (1) the prepackaged bags are distributed from 6 to 9am same hours all seven days a week. So don't sleep in on the weekend, (2) each bag consists of (i) one small granola bar (ii) one medium cellophane wrapped muffin, age unknown, and (iii) a choice of an orange or apple. I realize it’s Covid time but the Hilton suites product I stayed in by the SanFrancisco airport last month offered selections of hot oatmeal, eggs, breakfast meat, freshly made waffles all prepared by their staff and presented to each guest. (C) the safety bar in one elevator was broken, yes broken off leaving two rough bracket stubs to impact the unaware.(D) we are staying seven nights. At check in I requested a major room cleaning for Monday. Upon returning late Monday evening very surprised to see the room had not been touched. The evening front desk associate apologized and informed me that they only have two maids on staff, and he was sorry that they did not reach my room. I rescheduled for Tuesday. I called the front desk on Tuesday morning and was told that Tuesday was booked so we had been scheduled to Wednesday, but they would try to fit us in n Tuesday under the circumstances. I have not been back to the room so we will find out what happened today. (E) we checked in on Friday. Saturday morning I informed the front desk that one of the four lamps in the room was not working. I offered to change the bulb but was informed that (1) the front desk did not have access to bulbs, and (2) no maintenance staff works the weekend. (3) this item also was not addressed onMonday, I guess the weekend backlog pushed us to Tuesday or later. Bargain rates, Bargain place but far from Marriott quality.

The Owners Of This Establishment Operate In Bad Taste and With No Regard For Customer Feedback

Reviewed By etheleneac

I visited the Best Western Thousand Oaks hotel at the top of the month and was met by some difficult and tasteless challenges. There was old and molded food found in the microwave, what appeared to blood on the sheets, and a ton of interactions that felt very unfair and discriminative. When I expressed my concern to the manager, he was professional, he compensated two nights of my stay free of charge. That was admirable and professional; however as soon as I brought up what felt like discriminative behavior and recommended the establish implement better hiring and training practices, I was rudely placed on the do not rent list and was at that point embarrassed and taken through a great deal of poor and unethical experiences. I advised both the regional and location managers that I had no desire to stain the reputation of the company by taking to Yelp or the business bureau or social media, hence my decision to bring my concerns to them directly. It is completely disheartening and disappointing given as a consumer I simply voiced my experience. There were a ton of other options that could have been taken with this incident starting with simply hearing out my concerns, agreeing to further investigate, increasing training etc but to respond the way these owners have further supports the very concern that I have expressed. In this day and time such poor business practices must be addressed. I could see if I trashed the room, had tons of guests or did anything to cause a burden to the establishments but I didn’t. I simply conveyed my concerns and asked that they be addressed. This behavior is a poor reflection on the Best Western brand itself and should be addressed immediately! Travelers, please hold these owners accountable. We spend our hard earned money. We utilize their services and all we sometimes require is acknowledgment of our concerns and a means to a better resolution. I am so disappointed in this company and hope Best Western Corporate can help make this right!
