Our stay at Castel Jolly was simply the best
Reviewed By pthomas156B&B owner Marie has created a wonderful little world at Castel Jolly that she enjoys sharing with all her guests. With assets from the stunning ancient wisteria that graces the backyard to the eggs that just popped out of her very fancy city chickens, this is a place to to feel both enlightened and pampered. Marie, who is lively and much better at English then I am at French, welcomed us from our car into the backyard with a pitcher of water and mint syrup, introducing us to the chickens and urging us to relax. The old stone house is elegant and stylish in every way, with something in every room to take special note of. I wanted to move in! Our room was spacious and lovely with a giant bathroom stocked with everything you'd need -- including my new favorite pharmacy find, Nuvex Rose Water, a makeup remover that apparently is a French woman's staple. Robes were provided as well, a touch I appreciate. The comforter was light was as air and we slept well. Breakfast, which is an additional charge, was elaborate and believe me, you'll want this. It took place in the lovely dining room. The location is fabulous, with the town center only a 10-20 minute walk from the house. We had asked Marie to make us a dinner reservation for the night we arrived, and she chose a wonderful restaurant called La Closerie, which we loved. She also advised us well the next night when we were thinking "creperie." We were lucky to be there on a Saturday, which is market day, and Rennes supposedly has the second largest market in France. It was spectacular. We had oysters shucked on the spot. Marie drew us maps to find everything. We thank Marie for making our visit to her beautiful city so memorable!

Petit déjeuner avec du pain maison et un gâteau maison, c’est mieux que des croissants décongelés. Proximité du centre historique, quelques centaines de mètres derrière la gare. Bien pratique pour visiter la ville. Bons conseils de la propriétaire notamment pour les restaurants.

Reviewed By haroldp851“First and foremost this is not a Hotel. It is a series of rooms in a town house resembling a ' Bed & Breakfast' establishment. Having said that, the suite we had, albeit on the the third floor with lots of stairs, was impeccable. The patron could not have been more helpful. He met us at the street level entrance and carried our heavy case to our suite. Booked superb restaurants for the two nights we were there. Breakfast was served in the room. He also escorted to me to the car park, which being only 200 yards on foot, was a complicated drive round the one way system. Finally the location is probably the best in Rennes.”

Stay here and you will experience such warm hospitality from the owners in their very charming, ultra stylish and beautiful property! Each bedroom has its own lovely style full of French character - with very comfortable beds.The lovely secluded garden is available for guests to use and there are country walks nearby. Breakfast is served in a delightful salon room ( delicious home made jams).

Quintessential Rennes Building - Great Location!
Reviewed By ewindswMy husband and I met some friends and stayed at Marnie et Mister H together in March 2022. The hotel is in a perfect location! Close to the main Metro station (Republique), blocks away from the Marche des Lices, and a lovely walk to the old center of town, Sainte Anne. The building is older, as many in the area are, and has beautiful, well maintained original features. The owner of the hotel was kind and accommodating. She had great restaurant recommendations and served a delicious breakfast! We will absolutely be back on our next visit to Rennes.

Also this is an excellent location for exploring Rennes or to stay en route for the south - as we did. I would recommend this chambre d'hôte to anyone wanting a good night's sleep and a good breakfast with a warm welcome.
