Ideal location with outdoor undercover entertainment facility

Reviewed By toriem128

We have stayed here 2 years in a row with a group of 14 people. The perfect location in Penola for access to cellar doors and town. We used the outdoor undercover area with bbq for dinner one night and enjoyed standing around the fire pit drinking our recent purchases. Penola has so much to offer - Pipers for dinner, Ottelia for lunch, amazing cellar doors.

DO NOT STAY HERE

Reviewed By Kimberley B

We were incredibly disappointed with our stay in the ‘cabin’- reminded of where my friend stays when he’s working up in the mines. Extremely overpriced and nothing like the pictures or description on Airbnb. The cleanliness was questionable- finding black hairs absolutely everywhere (both my parter and I are blonde) ? The left side of the stove top didn’t work, making it almost impossible to make a nice breakfast. Do not even get me started on the couch, harder than a slab of concrete. As for the bed, both my partner and my legs hung off the end. We’re both thoroughly looking forward to our next physio appointment. I am not normally one to complain but it’s a little hard not to when you come away from what was supposed to be a really lovely weekend away and have absolutely nothing positive to say about the accomodation. I used to live on the Limestone Coast and now live in Adelaide. I will not hesitate in telling friends and colleagues about my less than ideal experience. Absolutely no pride taken in this place.

Highbank Winery Accommodation

Honeysuckle Rise Accommodation A touch of Tuscany in the heart of the Coonawarra. Honeysuckle Rise offers two beautifully appointed and self-contained facilities, which offer privacy and location in the heart of the Coonawarra wine region. The choice of two romantic guest retreats, the spacious 'Cottage' where privacy is emphasised in its own vineyard or 'Villa' with 'Room with a View', a cosy second story, but very spacious apartment with picturesque views of the vines from every room. The 'Cottage' and the 'Villa' (down stairs) have an open freestone fireplace and both can accommodate up to four adults. Firewood is provided at a reasonable extra cost of $20 per night of use. 'The Cottage' and 'Villa' both capture the charm of the historic South East but with the most modern of features. Both have spa baths for two persons, fully equipped kitchens, queen size beds, and special views of our vineyards. A fully equipped commercial kitchen in the 'Villa' (down stairs) also allows for the creation of wonderful gourmet meals. The Cottage is a small stone home nestled in its own beautiful vineyard. Close the iron gates at the entrance of the drive and enjoy total seclusion and privacy. The Cottage caters for two or four adults in an open floor plan. The Cottage interior is light and inviting with limestone walls, exposed beams, arched French doors, lead light windows and a stone fireplace. A cosy loft-bedroom overlooks the vineyard and private driveway as the floor plan is open to up-stairs and down. The spacious two-person spa is private and looks out to its own garden to be enjoyed. The 'Room with a View'a second floor Suite, is designed to be that special place for two. There is a very comfortable extra pull out bed, if needed for the chaperon. Where the full two stories of the 'Villa' can accommodate four guests. Each accommodation has its own two-person candle lit spa. Both offer the warm atmosphere and romance of colonial times with the comfort of modern facilities including fully equipped kitchens. As part of your nightly tariff in either of our retreats, we provide all the makings for that leisurely country breakfast. These include juices, fresh free-range eggs, fresh bread, smoked bacon, cereal, coffee and a selection of fine teas.

Excellent stay

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the Cottage. Spotlessly clean with lots of yummy goodies for breakfast supplied. Dennis was so easy to deal with. Highlight was a tasting of the delicious wines made by Highbank. Recommend visiting St Mary winery and beautiful gardens. Also the Walk the Wines was a lot of fun. We wish Highbank continued success.

Georgie's Cottage

So good the first time, so we had to return

Reviewed By WayneH525

We decided to return to this cottage after the COVID years, and was very happy to be able to stay at Georgie's Cottage. The Cottage is a one bedroom property, with a ensuite, kitchen with all of the mod cons including microwave oven, free standing oven, Coffee pod machine, fridge, lounge with T.V., there was a fireplace, however it was summer so it was not required, there was an air conditioner, but we did not need it as the double bricks kept the house cool. The Cottage is walking distance to the main street, and the local pubs,. We were supplied with a lot of breakfast items including eggs and bacon, fruit juice bread, we did not go hungry. The house has a courtyard which was great to site outside and enjoy the fresh air. Adrienne and Wayne were very friendly and helpful and gave us some advise of where to eat at night. For a cosy couple stay we could not recommend another cottage in Penola

Not great for what you pay

This place did not meet my expectations for the price we paid. Room was outdated, old and smelt funky. Bed was not comfortable. Shower head was not great and fridge leaked for two days. Hardly any ammenities for us to use like toilet paper, towels etc. I just expected more for what we paid. Would not recommend nor stay here again unfortunately.

Excellent stay at Verdelho

Reviewed By Sue88888

We spent a Saturday night at Verdelho with another couple. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. A lovely bathroom on the ground level with a huge bath and 2 shower-heads in a large shower area. The bedroom upstairs is open to the downstairs apart from a small lightweight curtain (covers part of the opening). Unfortunately the weather wasn’t the best so we didn’t use the outside area. Located in easy walking distance to the local supermarket and hotels. Easy check in / out via keypad code. Highly recommended for stay in the south east with wineries close by.
