Poor customer service from general manger, asst mgr, and staff.

Reviewed By ravenm760

Hello, I would like to report the staff at the Hampton Inn in Millington, TN. The address is 8838 Hwy 51. I called three days in a row trying to speak with the general manager, Dave Burnett. I left several messages. I also left a message on the asst. manager’s phone. I did not get his name. I even left messages with the staff that answered the phone twice. No one returned my call. I called the hotel again on May 4, 2022. I was transferred to the manager’s voicemail again. I didn’t feel itwould benefit me to leave another message. I called the hotel back again and explained to the staff member ( I believe her name was Katy or Katelyn) that I had been trying to reach the manager for three days. I asked if he was in the building. She said, “I don’t know.” I said, you don’t’ know if your manager is on duty? She said, “He may have entered through a rear door. I can go see if I can find him.” Dave Barnett answered the phone in an agitated voice. I said, sir, you are a very hard person to reach. I gave him my name and asked if he’d gotten my voice mails. He abruptly cut me off and in a nasty tone said, “I don’t know. What can I do for you? I explained the issue again as it was on voicemail. He said, “Ma’am there’s nothing I can do. He kept saying, “It doesn’t work like that. Once you make the reservation it’s non-refundable.” I said, I understand that, but the representative told me that it could be done and provided me with an email address and a case number for you to send the email and said she would remove the charge. I even went on to tell him that the hotel would not lose any money because I would rebook two rooms. I said, all you have to do is send an email to customer [email protected] and my case number is 02294207. He cut me off again and said he couldn’t do it. I told him I that I was misled and redirected after thinking I was on the Hampton site. I told him that a family member used to work a Hampton and told me this happened to his guests all the time. He said, “Ma’am, I don’t care who used to work for Hampton or who you spoke with, but there’s nothing I can do. My husband had stayed at this hotel during on April 30, 2022. He liked the location because it was near the race track. He called me to book two rooms during the Memorial Day weekend. I went to what I thought was the Hampton Inn website, but didn’t realize I was redirected to a third party website (Priceline I think). In my haste I clicked without paying attention while scrolling and booked one room. When I realized the price was wrong I tried to call them only to find out it wasn’t made directly through Hampton. I called the third party and was told it was non-refundable. After begging and pleading with them, I was given a case number and an email address for which the general manager of the Hampton could send an email authorizing them to cancel the reservation. I was satisfied with that thinking it would be as simple as getting the reservation canceled and booking the rooms directly through Hampton. Luckily, I had only booked the one room. I would really like a refund. I also feel that it is very, very poor service for a manager or an assistant manager not to check his voice mail for three days and return a phone call. Never have I ever experienced bad customer service from Hampton (Hilton Brands). Your manager needs some customer service training of how to speak with guests also.

Nice Stay, Terrible Laundry!

Reviewed By Charlie1999xx

Lovely room and amazing staff, and hotel from the outside looks beautifully kept. Our first room had broken AC and we got it switched straight away, and we all had a great nights sleep. Main issue was the laundry services. Washer had sand in it so got sand all over our clothes, and dryer did not work in our building (with 500 and 600 rooms) - clothes in there for an hour and did not dry at all! Ended up taking our clothes to the laundry room thats attached to the main building, and dryer there worked much better. Overall, doing laundry took us 2hr30 which was ridiculous. Hotel needs to get these machines seen to ASAP. Breakfast was okay but not many options.

Safety issues and poor management

Reviewed By CAS815

We stayed for a week in March, and have waited to see if IHG would respond after our contacting them 3 times. No reply, so here it is. The bathrooms have no mats or treads on the tubs and no grab bars. My husband fell while taking a shower due to slippery conditions. He fell out of the tub onto the floor bruising his head in 2 places, his back, and his hip. The desk staff was very sympathetic, but the general manager wanted to know why my husband did this…obviously it was because of the slippery conditions! He was rude and uncaring. We bought a bath mat, but no one even offered to reimburse us for it. We have been IHG members for over 10 years and have never encountered conditions such as this. We had to request that they make our bed ( we did this twice), and our room was never cleaned the entire week we were there. We went to the desk to get clean towels, toiletries, and coffee. I understand having issues with lack of staffing, but this is a little extreme. That, coupled with the rudeness of the manager, is unacceptable. The lack of follow-through on the corporate level is also unacceptable. There is a total disconnect on customer service. Luckily my husband did not suffer any long term effects ( though he was extremely sore for over 5 days). I would urge that you consider other options if visiting Millington. I would also urge you to consider other options than IHG hotels anywhere. If the corporation does not care about its customers, there are other hotels that do. We actually paid good money to suffer bruises, soreness, lack of caring, and DIY cleaning.

Rude and nasty

Reviewed By Tshirtandpanty

The management is horrible and rude! The first night we were there we had to go back to the office after check in and get sheets and towels, had to make up the beds ourselves. You could tell the Floors had not been cleaned in days! Dead roaches and cigar paper everywhere. The next day when we asked for clean towels the lady manager said we need the used ones so we can wash, we have no clean towels! The toilet was backed up, the housekeeping staff sit outside on balcony and smoke dope! Very unprofessional and rude!

Not my cup of tea

Granted I only paid $52.00 for a night I will spend the extra money next time to get a better room. What was wrong. .. phone not plugged in, shower curtain is cloth so floor was soaked which I had to use what towels were in the room for that. No trash can, toilet clogged up on first use, room smells musty. I had to look up the number on Google to call the front desk to get the wi-fi password. No coffee maker. No continental breakfast. Lamp shades are tore up. One doesn't even work another I had to plug in. For hotel use please upgrade some of these things and the stay would be great. I'm not going to talk bad about something that just needs some tlc.
