Best Bang for the Buck in the Branford, CT Area
Reviewed By David BThe American Inn is small, friendly, clean and comfortable, with a range of good-sized rooms, equipped with the usual TV, small refrigerator and microwave. The Wi-Fi system is reliable and had no problems. The beds are great, the linen and towels are changed daily or on request and each room has a table and chair for work plus extra space for parking excess baggage. The bathrooms are basic but everything works well and there is plenty of hot water, with good water pressure in the shower and sizeable tubs as well. In-room heat and A/C is quiet and easily controlled. Irons and an ironing board are available in every room. Management is friendly, attentive and can handle all requests. The location is terrific; just off Leetes Island Road (exit 56) on Rt. 95, across the street from a diner and shopping center, walking distance to the local Dunkin and the U.S.S. Chowder Pot III, a seafood restaurant with a lot of character and pretty good food. My wife and I stayed here for several weeks looking to buy a house in the greater Branford area and we'd do it again in a minute. A terrific value!

Reviewed By 201nadinegWe had a king size room. This room looked nothing like the photos. The furniture needs updating,the bedding needs new linens and the walls could use a lighter color. Now the good things. The appliances although old were spotless as was the bathroom. The TV is huge.. We have been on vacation and this is the only place who actually had houskeeping.The owner is a very friendly man. Location was perfect for us. If this Rodeway spent a little time and money it would be lovely.

Reviewed By curt417A brown bag with mini muffins, yogart and a energy bar is not a breakfast, hallways were not very clean, Pool was shut down which is ridiculous, And when I prepay for my room I expect it to be deducted ASAP , not wait 2 months when I arrive. Any hotel run by foreigners is never very clean and smells funny. Won't stay here again ! Over priced...

Big room, good breakfast
Reviewed By kts789We stayed here for our daughter's graduation in New Haven, it's about a 13min drive away. The room was very big, you could fit a couple more beds in there, great when you have a lot of luggage. Breakfast was great! Location was ok, there's a nearby Walmart that opens at 7am (am a foreigner) so was surprised that it opens that early, though expect a mess inside as staff have not had time to restock? By the way, Walmart's prices not as cheap as you think, Kinder Bueno was cheaper by a $1 in Target in NYC compared to here, go figure. Enough parking for everybody, room was cleaned everyday, water provided, toiletries in the bathroom, towels replaced.

The Heron Suite room was more than we expected with all the luxurious amenities at our fingertips. The details of the room and reception area, and dining area were well beyond our expextations. But the real gift was the love and warmth of Julie and Tony, siiting with us each afternoon for wine and cheese, and just sharing stories back and forth about life and this beautiful area of Stony Creek! Oh yes, the gourmet indivualized breakfasts are to kill for be it personal style eggs or famous omlets, bluebarry pancakes, fresh fruit cups with Tony's famous carved pineapple as a centerpiece. And the walking trail nearby with nesting osprey were a bonus in this little bit of heaven! They are an exceptional couple who share their beautiful rooms with those lucky enough to stay in this Heavenly Retreat!

Awful and dirty!
Reviewed By estev01I stayed at this hotel once previously and it was fine so I thought it would be safe to book again but boy was I wrong. The second you entered the room, you could barely breath from how bad the musty smell was. The corner of the closet area was full of mold. There was a spot for an iron, but it was missing. Half of the lights in the room did not turn on at all. A previous visitor's belongings were still in the room. Someone had taken the batteries out of the smoke alarm and left it open. The worst was all the spiders. They were everywhere. When I got home, I washed all my belongings multiple times and still can't get that musty smell out of them. Awful experience. Would never go back. Considering this was considered a "deluxe" room...
