Camping Ciudad de Leon

We didnt get to actually stay

We arrived here late at night and the very friendly owner done everything to accomodate us but unfortunately our tents could not fit between the trees , it is a beautiful little site with a small pool, one is for adults smaller one for kids under 18 , there is not much space for sunbathing around it. Our tents are 7m x 3m so just not possible to fit them on the pitches.the entrance is strange also , you drive through an industrial retail area and pass loads of electricity pilons then through a ghost estate but all that said the site was really charming and the owner very friendly and accomodating.

We have absolutely loved staying here! We stayed in a wooden bungalow. It was very clean and comfortable and fully equipped with everything you need. You can park your car right next to the bungalow. The staff are lovely and kind and welcoming. The restaurant serves excellent food, breakfast lunch and dinner. There is a beautiful swimming pool and a bar next to it. There are great walks around the Campsite and you must visit the beautiful River. I highly recommend this place, and we will be back! ♡♡♡

Camping Las Canadas

Terribly noisy.

I stayed here for one night whilst cycling the via de la plata. I had been looking forward to a swim after a long hot day. The person on reception didn’t bother to mention the pool was closed. The charge for a non power pitch is more than other campsites I have used on this trip and there isn’t even a chair to sit on and there are many feral cats. The reception area, bar and shop are smart looking, masking the shanty town like slum of permanent tents and caravans behind, so densely packed it’s ridiculous. There were just a few other guests on the campsite until a very large group (at least) 100 children appeared. They were playing and doing what children do, which was fine during the day. However from 9pm until midnight they ran riot up and down the campsite, yelling and screaming. At about 11pm, I got up out of my tent and went to talk to them to ask them to be quiet. Their teacher told me that they were allowed to make noise until midnight. Ok, it says in the campsite rules, no noise after midnight, but what these children were doing was completely unacceptable and with no regard for any one else staying. I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone wanting a peaceful night.

Camping Bungalows El Pinajarro

Expensive camping, but really lovely staff.

Stayed here on bike trip. Although the price is 3x the usual camping fee outside of a tourist area it was made up for by helpful, enthusiastic, knowledgeable staff. Plenty of hot water, individual pitches , showers a rather odd push button arrangement unsuited to small people as water very hot if only one button pushed in. Bar's pricey, but beers only in bottles, so bound to be. Didn't try the food as we were on a budget and ate earlier outside the Natural Park. Good access to all the places you want to go if in a car or van, access roads are wide.

Well Priced and Well Equipped

Camping Deva is huge with sites for tents, campers and caravans. There are also wooden cabins and I rented one of these for one night while walking the Camino de Santiago. It was rather like an oversized doll's house with 2 bedrooms containing a total of 3 bunks and a double bed plus a galley kitchen, living room and front terrace. Everything was very clean and mostly in good repair. The kitchen was well equipped with saucepans, plates and cutlery, in fact more so than most holiday rental apartments. There were 2 gas burners, a microwave and a fridge with freezer compartment. The bathroom was a little cramped because of the hot water unit and the shower enclosure was very small. One of the shower doors was broken but this was the only thing that I found in the cabin that was substandard. The terrace had a table and bench seating. Linen and towels were provided and dish washing liquid but no bathroom soap. It was a very hot day and the cabin was pretty hot inside but it cooled rapidly once the sun went down. There was supposedly wifi but it wouldn't work on my phone or computer even in the restaurant and reception areas. Neither device would accept the password and join the network. The facility also has a swimming pool, laundry room, outdoor barbecues, a restaurant and small store. The restaurant was pretty dire looking and not at all inviting but the pool was very popular and heaving with Camping Deva guests and others willing to pay for entry on a hot Sunday afternoon. My only real complaint was that the reception area and the restaurant didn't open until 9.00am which is inconvenient for those of us who need earlier service. Overall, Camping Deva has lots to recommend it and I can see it being an economical and attractive option for family holidays. It also worked well for me for an overnight stay rather than walking all the way from Villaviciosa to Gijon in one day.
