Fair price for an average quality

There’s lots to do if you come with kids, but the hotel is quite old and some of the facilities weren’t maintained very well. The heater in our room was broken and there’s no wifi in the room. Okay, there’s very weak internet connection, but the password never work! I don’t get it. If the place is so remote, why bother setting passwords for every hotspot?! We planned to dine in in the first floor restaurant, but it was just too expensive, better drive downtown and dine in any local restaurants. The breakfast was okay, and the room was inexpensive, so you get what you paid for.

Third visit! Habi Hani theme room

Reviewed By wendywang1016

Due to COVID-19 oversea traveling is impossible, bit I am amazed kids (girls, age 4 and 6) request to come here for the 3rd time in less than 5 months. This time we stayed at Habi Hani theme room, which I dunno why is not shown on English website. Personally I think this room is better than Children's Wonder theme room. Wonder is just a tent, but Habi Hani is addition bed that looks like jeep with table. As a parent, I enjoyed extra bed! The Habi Hani theme room comes with package of access to Leofoo village, breakfast, toys (plush dolls and water bottles), food voucher, 1 fast pass, and safari (van) experience. We extend our stay to one extra night for just 6500ish, and extend village pass to 2 days ! But it's too hot ! On the first day we only went on 4 rides, and on second day we went to on ferris wheel and magic show. I think animal interactive activities is the big bonus for this resort. We signed up for turtle cleaning, which is a special event only in summer. Kids love it! Leofoo Resort has many animal activities but sometimes its full so book ahead! The need to improve are dinner buffet and DIY. Dinner buffet is epensive but poor selection. The DIY also has no assistance. I know many parents won't come again because Leofoo is expensive compared to other nearby resorts (ie. Westin) and facilities are less. Leofoo is not really a relaxing resort, it's more kids animal interactive place. Oh! the room, bed is comfortable and shower water pressure is great. Utensils are not provided so bring your own toothbrush! If you forgot, when you check in, a 50NTD voucher will be given per guest, you can trade it with utensils.

Taiwan Thumb-up B&B

This secluded retreat with only 2 guest rooms is filled with first class travel amenities and warm personalized hospitality. Perfect choice for a romantic getaway or weekend retreat. It is ranked No.1 among 43 B&B's in Hsinchu County by Tripadvisor and the winner of 2015 "Traveller's Choice Award". The host is the internationally known Wittgenstein and Laozi scholar K. T. Fann. After retiring in 1995 from teaching philosophy in York University in Toronto, he returned to his native village and turned an abandoned 1 hectre ancestral farm into an organic retirement paradise. He designed and built a unique six-sided home flanked by two guest rooms, all with large windows allowing full views of the seasonal changes of the picturesque scenery outside. He planted many century-old trees; more than 100 kinds of fruit trees and flowering plants. He keeps and breeds all kinds of rare parrots and some of them are flying free and will land on guests' shoulders. There are chickens, ducks, geese, fowls, peacocks, rabbits, etc. running free. He also keeps honeybees and collects his own honey and pollen. The property is surrounded on three sides by a river and shaped like a thumb, thus named Thumb-up retreat. On one side there is a glass pagoda and on the other side a scenic washroom with an open view to the river. There is a lily pond and a fish pond on the premise. In addition, there is a treehouse where guests are invited to have special fresh cinnamon leaf tea. Recently, a wood-firing pizza and bread oven and a ceramic kiln were built. He does everything by hand and is completely self-sufficient in food. All in all he has created his own Taoist paradise and lives a life of simplicity in harmony with nature. You are welcomed to come experience it yourself.

Live a Life of Simplicity

This place used to remind me of my grandma’s farm at Jurong. Really a deja vu for me: a 40 years throwback with modern day facilities. I must say I really love this place. My kids and in-laws too! I will share with you why I like it and how this place can further be improved. - Great Friendly Host. The host comprising Mr Ding (丁), Prof. Fann and their family members were awesome hosts! They really took the effort to look into every detail to make sure our stay is a comfortable one. They really lived up to the Chinese belief that 来谅是客. You can see how thoughtfully they are in the way they prepare the food/snack, rooms, and bringing us around the entire place. - Good Variety of Fauna and Flora for the Family. The b&b is filled with many fruit trees (mulberry, Chiku, etc.) and animals (horse called Xiao Bai, white gracious peacock and toucan, etc.). You can enjoy their homegrown marigold flower tea and the fruits were so sweet. We also tried feeding the turkey, parrot and toucan, etc. Xiao Bai gave the smaller kid a ride and photo moment too. It was so much fun! - Appreciating the Rustic and Simple Life. Don’t expect wow wow five-far with top class cleanliness. It’s back to nature, and appreciating the most simple things in life. Lots of space for the kids to run. So please don’t go there expecting a 4-star hotel treatment. Anyway, I really love the greeneries and the freshness in the air. Simply awesome! Areas to Improve. - I would suggest for Mr Ding to design a full day (or two) experiential work prog for those who are keen. I don’t mind and I can allow my kids to experience feeding the chicken and help to tidy the farm. Thought it would be a wonderful experience for the kids. - Good if the toilet has some anti-slip mat in the bathtub. :) my boy slip while bathing but other than that all were ok. Overall, I love the place. My in-laws too. My kids had fun! We will surely be back and I would make it a longer trip and try “working” on the farm. ;)
