Lake Land Motel

The worst motel in the world

Reviewed By 949deyank

This motel is the worst motel I have ever experienced in my life. My wife booked 4 nights there with intention to spend some time at the beach nearby with our two daughters who are 3 and 7 years old. The motel's least problems are the stained towels and lack of any service. After my wife's first night she came back to the motel to find another family in her room (she had rented room 9). Once she got to the room she found out the motel had rented her room (that she had pre-paid for through Orbitz) to that other family. The owner of the motel came with the excuse that she only left one or two items in the room when she left and the owner thought she had checked out without saying anything. So, he took her items out of the room and rented it out. Then, the owner of the motel tried to say that my wife paid only for one night - wrong as I have the receipt for four nights through Orbitz. Then, he begrudgingly refunded my wife for three nights and told her to find something else. Keep in mind this was all happening at 11 pm at night in the middle of nowhere at the shadiest motel possible and my wife was there alone with y little girls. We should have not only received a full refund for all this insanity but the owners should have compensated us for this insult. On top of that, it is none of the motel owner's business how much stuff my wife leaves in the room when she goes out and about during the day. My wife had booked the motel for four nights so that she had somewhere to sleep at night. People don't go to motels to spend their entire days in the motel rooms. Plus, she didn't want to leave anything in the room while out in town because the motel was so shady. My brain cannot comprehend the stupidity, lack of care, lack of concern and lack of any professionalism of this motel owner who not only did not apologize or try to fix things, but had the audacity to ask my wife if she was happy. This person should just sell his motel and never ever work any customer service position. I have never been more insulted in my life. I would NEVER recommend this rat hole. Words cannot express how mad I am that my wife and kids were stranded in the middle of the night with nowhere to go as all other hotels and motels in the area were fully booked. DO NOT EVER RENT ROOMS AT THIS MOTEL UNLESS YOU WANT TO SLEEP IN YOUR CAR! WORST MOTEL EVER!

A pure dump

Reviewed By Brian S

Having sheets with dried feces on them was the nail in the coffin for this dump. No one even around when checking out- someone from laundry had to get us- the very people who should have caught this when washing or folding. The room had a smell to it also. Very bland appearance from road and parking lot- place needs serious upgrade- this is what you get when you come in late at night and should have read previous reviews but just wanted to have our heads hit pillows , Seriously doubt these owners ever look at reviews of their business.

Overpriced room in a basement

Reviewed By Brian G

While the room was reasonably clean and had a fridge, the property overall is dank, musty, dingy and worn. Asked for a room on the second (highest) floor, was given the literal opposite, that being one in the basement. Décor was striking in how old and tired it was; think of the spare room in your grandmas basement with ancient, mismatched furniture & fixtures. Musty, stale basement smell (there’s that word again) permeates the building, and hallways are dark and uninviting with damage and wear throughout. Most bizarre of all was that giant hole in the wall between the bedroom and bathroom. This was presumably to allow for the jetted tub to be accessed from the room, and while having the whirlpool tub in the room itself is quite common, having it in both the room and bathroom at the same time is not; the end result was no barrier between the toilet and the bed other than a set of cheap wooden blinds. Either steer clear of the three bean salad at dinner or bring along an exceptionally understanding partner, because if not they are going to get an ear (and nose) full. Exorbitant cost of over $150 a night, easily more than triple what this flophouse would be worth anywhere else. Spend the extra money and stay across the street or even in your car at the adjacent wal mart.

Decent get away.

Reviewed By nicole9993

Beautiful location, fun get away. Definitely need new beds. My bed was sinking terribly. I’m 155 and tossed and turned all three nights. No tv/cable. WiFi is very spotty. Loved sitting on the swing and drinking coffee. Had fun playing shuffleboard.

Out of Business

Reviewed By Karen W

Lakeside is out of business, and has been torn down. Summer 2020. It was a large piece of our loca history that has been demolished and carried away to a landfill. This won't let me submit it until I write two hundred words. It's hard to write two hundred words about somerhing that no longer exists. I hope I can do it.

Super Trash. Not worth the money.

Reviewed By caxa2020

We paid $130 a night for this dump. Carpets were mushy. Room was muggy. The walkway throughout the hotel looked like it had never been cleaned since 1980. The people were nice but it was clear they had no control over what was going on. We'd come back to the hotel to find some guy playing loud Mexican music on his phone at midnight in the passage. The hotel was the worst part of our trip. We dreaded going back after a day of fun. Absolutely would not recommend unless you have no other option.
