Nice, average place to stay.

Nice, average motel near downtown Shawano. Chose this hotel as it was the only one not charging triple digits for a night. Was a Super 8 at one time, so was somewhat spartan in styling. Rooms were if average size, although a little musty smelling-could have been because of no air flow during the day. Room decor was dated, but for the price was not expecting a lot. Lady at from desk was very polite. Although the offered a free continental type breakfast, we opted to hit the road and eat elsewhere. No real issues with out stay.

WORST EVER!

First of all, I should have known better than to reserve a room when I had such a hard time getting anyone to answer the phone and when someone finally answered, they seemed to not care whether I became a customer or not. This a very lengthy and detailed. If you read nothing else, read this: DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Everything is run down and disgusting. There are zero amenities. I'm quite surprised that Quality corporate continues to be associated with this building. The Quality Inn flag is in shreds on the flagpole. Sad. We got there and the desk and lobby were deserted. Finally, a woman came and acted like I was interrupting her (at 8:00 pm). The room was horrible. We checked for bugs everywhere and sprayed lysol on everything. At this point we had no choice because we had driven 3 hours already, it was late and there was nothing else available in town. There is rusting door trim, a chair that needed to be thrown away as there was no support in the center to sit on, no drain plug in the sink, curtains falling down, door key cards didn't work, the microwave was unusable and had something brown all over the door, the heater didn't work right (we had it set to 63 and we were being roasted out and turned it to 61 and then it blew cold air---this was the beginning of March in Wisconsin and an ice storm was predicted for the night so it was cold). There was no water in the pool and I was told we could go to the motel next door and pay $5 to swim there. There was no breakfast to speak of. They had a few boxes of cereal, one packaged muffin, a carton of milk, and some yogurt in a small refrigerator and the thermometer read over 45 degrees! The coffee machine didn't work. OK, we lived through the night. The next morning, I went to the lobby and there were three very unhappy customers waiting for someone to come to the desk. No one ever did come. One person said they came there often to visit family but it had gotten so bad they weren't coming back. They said it USED to be a nice place. One woman said she went to find the manager last night and she came out of a room in pajamas. She and her children obviously live there. A bit later there was a young man in the lobby and he said he was waiting for the manager to let him in the housekeeping closet so he could get started. The manager was an hour late already. The same young man helped us carry our bags upstairs to the suite and said he had cleaned the room. I'm sure he did his best. Turns out he lived there as well with a young boy in the room down the hall from our suite. Across the hall was another live in with children who was behind the desk in the lobby and acted like he worked there. He like his music loud and on all night! He also liked to swear and said "nothing f--ing works in this place" when we couldn't get our key card to work again. We finally had to turn on the fan on the heater just to try and drown it out enough to sleep. The suite was not much better. It was bigger. The couch was so old and sunk to the floor when you sat on it. the closet door was broken ad not usable; the water was so hot that it would be horribly dangerous if a child were to turn it on! During the night there were several vehicles that came and sat in the parking lot for a while, then left. People visiting? standing in the freezing rain for a long time like they had no idea it was raining. I have a feeling it was the local place to make a deal. In the morning we just wanted out. No one was ever at the desk. No one cared if we were there, happy or not. The facia (Spelling?) is falling off the building and has been gone long enough that the wood is black and moldy. There are nasty cigarettes outside the building in over flowing ashtrays. Last words: Run the other way. Do not book this motel.

Older Motel That Needs an Update but Very Inexpensive!

Reviewed By RibMountain60370

This motel looks like a classic 1980s motel with a pool and seating area. The place was clean but very dated. The room even has the old phones with a flashing lights on it and the TV was an old tube one that was hard to see. The bed was comfortable (sheets were clean but thin!) and the bath room passable. For only $40 it was a bargain. I noticed higher rates on line but called and received the $40 rate. No breakfast but coffee in the morning. I will stay if I am passing through but definitely not a vacation destination!

Horrible for family's. Nobody working wore a mask. We were appalled at the dirty room and the pool wasn't kept up. I found what looked like drug baggies on the bathroom floor. Never again, we went across the street.
