Friendly staff, clean rooms and ample parking

I arrived to the hotel and was greeted by the receptionist at the side window (Covid precautions) with no wait. Check-in was super fast and my room was super clean and spacious. I had asked the room attendant the next morning for extra wash clothes and she was happy to get them right away. Everyone was so helpful and I slept very well every evening. I will be back again.

My experience not as terrible as others’ but not great, either

Yes, a tired old hotel showing its age, but not the horror show you’d think it is based on other reviews here. Second-floor room was generally clean, bed was comfortable, A/C worked, and the shower was hot—checked all my boxes for minimum requirements. But the “nonsmoking” room did have a smoky, unpleasant odor. The water in the sink and toilet was discolored, and the sink drained slowly. There was no shampoo in the bathroom (just a couple bars of soap and lotion). When I called to request a bottle, they asked me to come to the office to retrieve it (any responsible staff would have brought it to my room). Left before they put out breakfast, so can’t comment on that. One night was $96, which was well below anything else available in town (multiple events over this weekend and most hotels booked solid; any rooms that did become available were $300+ a night). So, yeah, not a four-star experience, but (mostly) got what I paid for.

The Washington Inn and Tavern

Built in 1744 as an Inn, this is one of Amerca's oldest. Fully refurbished and redecorated in 2016 it retains its original Federal character. The Historic town of Princess Anne exemplifies small town America yet is close to Assateague, Chincoteague, Rehoboth, Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island. Crisfield is 20 minutes drive and gives access to Smith Island and the Bay. The City of Salisbury is ten minutes drive and The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is a few blocks away from the Inn. Great food and friendly service is to be enjoyed in our Tavern and Dining Rooms.

Stayed here over Thanksgiving '21 and really enjoyed ourselves. Funky historic building, carefully restored. We stayed in the room that Washington used (#2; we'll buy. the placed seemed pretty serious about its history). Immaculately clean and fresh: the room lacked that slightly shabby "I've been painted too many times" aura you get often with these ancient places. Fun period furniture. Some authentic antiques, I think. Very nice. Nice meal rooms, and excellent included breakfast. Dinners were good, with some items being excellent, others adequate. Service cheery and efficient, especially considering staffing struggles everywhere. Great access to various wonderful outdoor things on the Delmarva - made a good base for day outings.

Cute quiet place

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Heidi’s cute B&B. She met us at the door and spent time giving us info on her place as well as good restaurants. We had the Robert Louis Stevenson room, very quaint and comfy with a private bath. The neighborhood is super quite and we both got a good nights sleep. Heidi served us an “English breakfast” the next morning at 9 which was quite good. We haven’t stayed at a B&B for a few years and forgot how enjoyable it is compared to a regular hotel. Heidi provided a first class stay, highly recommended! John & Michele
