Hotel Petita Mare

Welcome to the Finca Hotel Petita Mare, a renovated 11th century ancestral "Finca" Estate located in the foothills of the serra de Tramuntana world heritage site. This small, charming hotel, recently voted as "Spains Best Hotel", offers 11 simple, stylish rooms and suites, featuring traditional beams, exposed stone walls, but with all the modern conveniences and comforts of a five-star hotel. The pool has stunning views, and the hotel, located in 3 1/2 million m2 of its own farmlands, olive groves and pine trees, offers a wonderful secluded relaxing break ideal for cyclists, walkers, families (in school holidays), gourmets, or for those simply looking to do nothing! Come and pay us a visit. James and Paola

Unrivalled setting

Stayed one week in August 2019. Beautifully located, Finca es Castell is a delighful small hotel created from old farm buildings. Much of the character has been retained with original features that can be seen. The hotel is accessed via narrow roads and un-made track so you definitely need a hire car. We stayed in room 9, described as a double with balcony. The balcony was in fact a small private terrace area beside the main path to reception and we enjoyed the beautiful mountain views over breakfast from our private terrace every morning. The room was comfortable but the bathroom is rather dated and could do with updating - mildew around the bath, for example. The breakfast (which you pay extra for) was plentiful and very good - fresh coffee, fruit, yogurt, juice, bread and a good continental selection of meat, eggs and cheeses. The property is described as having free wifi to all rooms - unfortunately room 9 did not seem to be able to get wifi and we had to go out onto the terrace to get signal. The swimming pool is on the small side but with plenty of (slightly tired) sunbeds to go round it wasn't a problem. On a couple of occasions other guests 'reserved' the better positioned sunbeds with their towels which was annoying but there was plenty of shady space in the garden beyond the pool where there are additional sunbeds. We were offered an evening meal on the day of our arrival - described as paella night. Whilst the paella was delicious, the meal was let down by the starter of (definitely not homemade) rissoles which were extremely disappointing - we had much better later on in the week in the numerous local restaurants. The poor waitress at our evening meal appeared to be multi tasking by receiving guests, laying tables for the evening and then later on serving us at dinner. In fact, the oddest thing about Finca es Castell was the service. Erika the receptionist seems to be the face of the hotel, virtually holding the place together. She was so professional, helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Erika was smartly presented and efficient, unlike the other staff who appeared to be dressed in their casual clothes. It was hard to tell who was who to be honest. There didn't appear to be a manager and indeed at some points the hotel appeared unstaffed. The hotel could be top-notch if the manager was present and the evening service stepped up. Being so distant from the nearest town or village the hotel could really make a good profit with decent evening food and service in the hotel but it didn't appear to be a priority.

A lovely little hotel

Reviewed By Drew W

A very small hotel that has got everything right. It’s a very old building amid very narrow streets in a lovely quiet village-centre location in Mallorca but with easy access to large towns. If you can, get room 6 which is a large room and has a terrace over-looking the pool. The staff are very keen and speak good English. The food and service are both great. The hotel is also very accommodating for cyclists with a small on-site workshop.

Senda Caimari Hotel

Overbooking y cero explicaciones

We had reservation elsewhere and went here for a drink. Friendly service and a tasty complementary tapa got the evening off to a great start. Looking at the menu will be back to dine next time. Restaurant is small but welcoming. A great find in a lovely part of Mallorca

Highly recommended

A very sophisticated modern hotel in the middle of the charming town of Caimari. The hotel is small and the owners are highly attentive and helpful. The service is of a very high standard, the beds are comfortable, the rooms well designed and appointed and the breakfasts are good. You are looked after very well here. I have stayed at more than twenty 4 and 5-star hotels in Mallorca and this one is my favourite. Also, at under €100 per night, I think it offers very good value for money.
