Hotel Riviera Vista

A hotel with a view

Reviewed By Ginger L

Hotel Riviera Vista is a gem. It has a perfect location, very friendly staff, and nice clean comfortable rooms. We had a car and made daily trips but you can easily just stay here without your own means of transportation because a bus stop is 5 minutes down the hill and buses take you everywhere you want to go. The hotel has its own lift down to the beach, be sure to try it out.

Idyll Suites

What you should expect

Reviewed By Shfcsv

Idyll Hotel (IH) is located in the relatively quiet resort of playa del Cura (PdC). We spent 2 weeks there in May 2022. We are aged 63 and wanted a quiet, adult-only base. May is off-peak and so the whole of Gran Canaria is not as frantic or busy as it gets during the peak seasons. It's a great time to visit the Canaries.First ALL the aprtments have sea views so don't pay extra! The apartments are clean, spacious, well designed and fully equiped - they provide you with washing-up liquid, cleaning cloths, towels, shampoos, lotions etc. The kitchen is perfectly adequate but has a microwave rather than an oven. We did not have to purchase anything extra - like cork-screws! The bedroom is seperate from the living area which is open plan. The terrace is the best feature! It's large enough to easily accommodate two sun loungers, and a table with four chairs. You only get the sun in the mornings NOT the evenings. That was the only negative point (see below). The pool is lovely. Again, loads of comfortable loungers and sun umbrellas and truely enormous beach towels and pillows for everyone! The pool is a bit salty and has lots of spa features and jets for massage and general decadence! It did get a bit busier on Saturdays when locals would stay (see below) but most of the time you virtually have the pool to yourself! The pool gets 10/10 BUT because the the location, the sun disappeared at about 18.00 hours so if you wanted to catch the evening rays or see the sunset, you needed to walk the 10 minutes to the beach - the beach at Playa de Tuaro is a little further but worth the extra effort (see below). We were self-contained. The SPAR supermarket is literally 2 minutes walk away and is suprisingly large and well-stocked (it's underground). Loads of wines, beers, cheeses, meats, bread etc. More than adequate! There are bus stops near the Supermarket and they reliably run every 20 minutes to Puerto de Mogan and towards Maspalomas. Face-masks on public transport are/were obligatory and it costs 1.4 Euros to get to the main bus station in Puerto de Mogan - the market there is on Fridays which means that resort and better restaurants are really busy on Fridays! The Golf Cource is about 3 km away from IH. There are a couple of fantastic hikes starting near the Golf Club. IT took me 30 min to walk to the "start" and 2.5 and 4 hours more to complete the short and longer hiking loops (Both VERY scenic and worth the effort but NOT if you unfit). The staff at IH are brilliant. The lady at reception speaks fluent English and German and went out of her way to help us. All staff were always considerate, friendly and efficient. PdC is pretty quiet. There are a couple of "tourist" bars and about 5 restaurants. Being honest I can't say any of the restaurants are memorable. In fact, the majority of restaurants in the area are avaerage (that doesn't mean bad but nothing out-of-the-ordinary). Poor selection of veg and even the Canarian Potatoes were no where nerar as good as tapas in most restaurants in La Gomera! The two establishments we enjoyed - for very different reasons - were GUANTAMINO Restaurant (on the road towards Playe del Tauro) and VISTAMER RESTAURANT which is on the beach itself! Both were busy catering for predominatly locals as well as the odd tourist - a good sign! Guantamino has an extensive menu and the paella was good! It's well-staffed and offers decent fare. The beach taverna will give you that Shirley Valentine experience! They only speak Spanish and have a limited menu but the grilled fish, sardines and grilled octopus were all very good but it's pretty basic in presentation. Having said that, who cares! The location is to die for...Playa de Tauro is the only large sand beach that has not been subjected to development! It attracts loads of locals at weekends and no wonder! If you are feeling more adventurous walk towards Puerto de Mogan. There are three coves which get better and better (and harder to access). The cove at Barranco de Tritana (no 3) is the best - brilliant snorkelling BUT boats from the biger resorts anchor here to sell the "secret" experience! It's the barranco nearest to Taurito. You can easily walk into Amadores from PdC! It's about 25 mins away...add of another 20 monutes and you are in Puerto Rico if you want noise and mass tourism. Loads of beach restaurants in the more touristy Amadores and we had a decent Pizza there in Ciao Ciao but none of the restaurants will blow you away! In conclusion if you want an adult only break in a quieter part of Gran Canaria with a lovely pool and above average accommodation, go for it! If you really want "quiet" escapism, avoid the coast and check out accommodation inland!

A perfect week at CuraSol

Reviewed By NessLux

We've just returned from the most relaxing and enjoyable week at Apartamentos Curasol. Curasol is in the perfect location, quiet with beautiful views of the bay and the Spar supermarket and plenty of restaurants and bars just a 2 minute walk away. We were a group of 4 adults with 3 apartments booked. All staff were excellent. Friendly and so helpful in making sure our 3 apartments were next to each other ahead of our arrival. The apartments were clean with comfy beds and kitchens stocked with everything you need for easy self-catering. All 3 terraces had sea views and lots of space. The pool area was the best! Amazing views, plenty of sun loungers and even a VIP area if you book a premium apartment. One of our group celebrated a birthday during our stay and had a bottle of bubbly delivered to their door - a little gift from Curasol. We loved our stay and would recommend these apartments to any of our friends and family!

Ocean Beach Club Gran Canaria

Ocean Beach Club - Gran Canaria is a luxury, family-friendly hotel in Playa del Cura, a popular coastal resort in the south of Gran Canaria. The hotel overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and provides views of the surrounding natural landscape. The hotel is steps away from Playa del Cura beach, a stoney and coarse sandy beach with variations. Some parts of the bottom consist of larger stones. Underwater currents and waves occur. It's also close to the centre of the resort, where you can find restaurants and bars that serve local and international cuisine. The hotel has two outdoor pools, one which is heated, surrounded by a sun terrace, as well as a children's pool. If you're looking to stay active throughout your holiday, you can work out at the gym or take part in fitness classes such as yoga and aerobics. There's also a spa for some relaxing downtime. Here, you can sign up for a number of other treatments. For younger guests, there's a programme of activities organised by the hotel, designed to keep kids of all ages entertained. There's also a kids' club, Mini Land, where children can watch films and play games. The Mini Land also runs a mini disco in the evening. Teenagers can meet new friends, play computer games and take part in organised activities in the Teen lounge. The hotel has a buffet restaurant that aims to cater for a wide selection of tastes. There are also alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and snacks and lighter meals available throughout the day.

Family vacation with focus on presence.

Me and my two children age 5 and 3 years had a great week at this resort. It located spoilingly close to the beach. It was made very easy for me as a parent travelling alone with two small children. We had chosen the all inclusive alternative and were happy with the food. There were plenty of tasty and various options at the buffet so no need to use the a la carte menu. I especially liked the tapas buffet. Very helpful and kind staff from reception, restaurant, kitchen, bar, house keeping to pool guard. The Lollo and Bernie club was amazing for the kids. Especially Linus deserves a great applause for his dedication. The rooms are light and spacious and kept clean and tidy. There's a mini market at the hotel as well as gym and laundry room. No experience from this. We went to the SPAR very close to the hotel the few times we wanted something. During our stay we made to day trips. One to Puerto Rico and one to Arguineguin, easily accessed by both taxi and public bus. We would love to come again <3.

Relaxing Holiday... but be aware!!

Reviewed By Relax736971

Spent two weeks at these apartments, our apartment was excellent as was the grounds and pool area. BUT be aware that there are some very unfriendly Norwegian people who think they own the place and will take sunbed and umbrellas from you whilst you are in the pool and if challenged get very aggressive. This made us feel very uncomfortable every day we were down by the pool. We complained to the management and they did nothing!! So we complained to the owner of our apartment and with 2 days 4 new umbrellas arrived. We found out later from other residents that this happened a lot.

Aparthotel El Cardenal

DO NOT RENT FLAT # 203 FROM BONETTO / ALVAREZ !!!!!

Reviewed By Kappa P

Playa del Cura is a nice little town and also the location of the aparthotel El Cardenal is great, but we happened to deal with a dishonest host Lucrezia (alias Lulu, Lella and other similar nicknames she has on the various platforms). We found the apartment on AirBnb, but it is also on other platforms. First she makes you go out of the platform and contact her directly on a Facebook page Alvarez Bonetto, promissing a better rate, then she asks for extra money for the cleaning, though at our arrival the flat was absolutely dirty!!! There was a thick layer of dust everywhere, trash in the dustbin, no sheets on the beds, no shower towels (only small ones) and not even toilet paper!!! The electric plug sockets were dangerously unprotected, especially in the bedroom and terrible stink hits you as soon as you make your entrance. Not to mention the millions of small ants everywhere in the kitchen attacking your food! She sais that she's the owner, but on my arrival she didn't have keys for the apartment and the receptionist did not even know her, so I had to wait with my luggage for over 20 minutes at past 11pm for her to eventually get the key. She never came to provide the missing things or to clean, though she initially claimed that she was doing the cleaning. Another woman showed only around noon on the next day, but left just sheets and some toilet paper that was not enough for our one week stay. I called Lucrezia and she refused to bring other toilet paper and she never came to clean the flat. We got a shower towel from the reception only on the fourth day. Lucrezia refused to emit regular invoice or fiscal receipt for the money she made us pay though I requested one and we also did not get any refund for the misservice. When I insisted to be given a fiscal document for my payment she first sent me terrible curses on WhatsApp and immediately after she blocked me both on Whatsapp, on Airbnb and on Facebook. She rents also other apartments in Playa Paraiso aparthotel and in that same Cardenal one. It might not be a big thing, but it's still a type of fraud. Be aware!
