Superb location and comfortable stay
Reviewed By Pat AGreat base for a Loire tour. We stayed a week - excellent room with an exceptional view of the chateau. Welcoming staff and good breakfasts but no restaurant - but that is no problem as there are a number of great places to eat within a few minutes walk from the hotel. Montreuil-Bellay is a fine town, with many interesting buildings including a magnificent chateau and, a bit off the main Loire valley tourist area, it is relatively peaceful. Within an easy drive of many places to visit, this is an ideal place from which to explore and then return and relax and enjoy good food and the local wine from the chateau. One slight criticism is the lack of shade for sitting outside - not enough umbrellas / lack of an awning at the front.

Relaxing charm

Well placed in the heart and soul of the Loire, a beautiful garden and a host that pays attention. To top it off, we where served breakfast with fresh pancakes in the garden, where you see the old and well kept buildings as well as troglodytes from ages past.

A super campsite!
Reviewed By Orlagh_mcgWe stayed here for six nights in August 2020. If you need a little campsite that has something for everybody then this is the one! The castle of Montreuil-Bellay overlooks the Thouet river. The campsite is nestled at the foot of the castle ramparts, on the bank of the river! It is an idyllic location! The town is quaint with cafes, boulangeries and a supermarket all within walking distance! We went cycling as a family to Saumur for the day via the voies vertes. Myself and my daughter enjoyed the cafes. The river is more suitable to fishing than swimming and my husband’s slight disappointment at this was erased when he bagged a 1.4m long catfish! The staff could not have done more for us! They were friendly, efficient and very welcoming!! Many many thanks to Clement and the team! We will be back! Kind regards Orlagh

Bikers stay with mates
Reviewed By Iain NBooked this hotel due to location/price in the Loire valley. Rooms were very basic and could do with an update, however being bikers without the wives, it was perfectly adequate for our needs. There is ample parking to the rear which kept the bikes away from prying eyes. The courtyard is a really nice place to sit in the evening and we ate here 2/3 nights as the food was so good (and very reasonably priced). Really nice budget hotel with a friendly owner. Beware though, the owners English is limited and most staff don't speak any although knowing enough French to get by this wasn't an issue so would definitely book again if we were in the area.
