Dirty, worn and poorly stocked.

Our purpose for this stay was to take the grandkids to the water park, and it’s nearly impossible to get tickets any other way (tickets are held for guests predominantly). This captive audience allows them to price things accordingly. Checkout is 11:00 and the park didn’t open till 1:00. When I asked for a late checkout (though they had no booking after ours) I was told we could checkout at noon, but would have to pay another $45/hr after that. I told them we’d just hang out in their lobby for an hour until the park opened. The front desk called me back a little while later, offering a 1:00 checkout for no charge. Nice concession. I will say that the general layout of the one bedroom/loft condo and the huge bathroom worked well for the 5 of us and the advertised pictures well-represented the general appearance of the condo, but the cleaners do NOT pay attention to detail. Dirty fan, cobwebs (look up!) & dirty corners. And the sofa is grossly soiled and thread-bare. As we were relaxing on the sofa with the fan on, bits of dusty fan debris were floating down on us. Ughhh!!! This is promoted as a condo with a fully stocked kitchen but it lacks numerous basics - foil and plastic wrap, oil or spray oil, dish brush or sponge, and the most important basic - SALT AND PEPPER. When I called to ask about any of these missing items, their answer was either buy them in their gift shop or the grocery store. A few other missing items - no pencil or paper, no decaf coffee or tea. Considering the reservation price, the management would do better to pay closer attention to the customers’ needs. If you plan to stay at this facility, either bring your own “everything” or book through Owner-owned apps, where they pay much better attention to detail. Better yet, stay at a cheaper hotel and spend your $$ at Silverwood Park (Athol, ID) or Triple Play (Hayden, ID).

It’s dirt cheap for a reason, it’s a dump. Slept in our ski cloths on top of the beds. Room on the 2nd floor, floors we saggy and squeaky with every step. Bathroom had mold imbedded in the seal around tub. Don’t bring the wife and kids, or girlfriend. Thought it would be a decent place to sleep and shower, didn’t do either. Couldn’t wait for daylight to get out.

Convenient and kind!

This is in a very convenient location to downtown Kellogg. The staff is very kind, and the rooms are clean. The breakfast is predictable but good. Free wifi is great. The beds are ok. 3 stiff, foam pillows on a queen.

Silver Inn

A very nice and affordable motel close to the Gondola

Reviewed By WindWolfess

I have stayed at this hotel once before about 15 years ago, and enjoyed it then, spending a weekend skiing at Silver Mountain on my way to Cody, WY. This year I decided to ski Silver Mountain again, and the Silver Inn still had good rates and looked like the rooms were still nice. I was not disappointed with the room I got; very roomy, comfortable, with a large screen TV, mini-fridge and microwave (that I never figured out how to use - they need to have some directions!!!). The bathtub/shower was fine, and there was never a problem with hot water. The continental breakfast consisted of some juice in little bottles, coffee/tea, packaged sweet roles and muffins, and some energy bars, which is what I expected, and they were fine. Parking is easy, and there is room for trailers and RVs in the back of the property if you are in something other than a car or pickup. Like most of northern Idaho, the residents treat Covid as a joke and feel that their personal liberty is being threatened by anyone who wears a mask or obviously socially distances. None of the staff I encountered at the Silver Inn wore masks or used hand sanitizer in my presence. Nor did the customers, clerks, food handlers or anyone else at the local supermarket or McDonald's. There is a nice breakfast joint adjacent to the Silver Inn, Sam's, but all dining is inside and NOBODY wears a mask, so I skipped it this time. I would definitely go back to this hotel in the future, as it provides a conveniently located, fairly priced, clean and comfortable place to stay for a few nights. Besides the general aversion to taking any precautions concerning Covid, I would say to watch out for the "Resort Fee" that they tack on to your bill. It was only $3/day for my room, but neither I nor the front desk clerk could tell me what it covered. There is no pool, spa, sauna, workout room, dining facility or anything "resorty". Parking, wi-fi or the continental breakfast? Nope. Silver Inn states tat these are free. How about the room servicing? Nope. In order to save money, the Silver Inn states when you check in on the piece of paper that they hand you that there is no daily room refreshing/cleaning/wastebasket emptying "due to Covid guidelines". Huh? It's the only thing that they appear to do to reduce the incidence of Covid, and funny thing, it probably saves them a lot of money. I didn't mind that nobody made my bed each day (I am a big girl and can make my own bed), but the wastebasket is really quite small, and I had to carry it outside to a larger waste receptacle for smokers just outside the door to empty it twice. Kind of a pain! I also asked if staying at the Silver Inn got me any discounts with the Silver Mountain ski resort. The answer was no. So...what did the "resort fee" cover? Absolutely nothing. It as just a way to pad the bill or to make the room rate appear lower to search engines.
