Border House at Crystal Bay

a fairly good visit

lots of things that could be talked about AT CHECK IN...everyone is just getting started back up from covid, so I tend to be a little more lax about details....HOWEVER I never would have known about going to casino FIRST to check in had I not looked on TRIPADVISOR. Tiny little white sign on front door. NOBODY is at the hotel to check you in or get to your room. NOW it wasn't all that difficult once we walked thru a court yard and some bushes to find a partially open back door and a cleaning person. Who seemed very aggravated that we ask where room 9 was, in a very dim lit all locked door facilty....NO elevators...fine with us. Would have been even better had the desk clerk at casino said your own your own ;) Also because of things opening back up...no food in Crystal Bay at least on a Monday/Tuesday?? You have to drive to Incline Village...again no big deal. But would have stopped first to get food....on a good note I WON a small jackpot, and the history of the casino and land around is very interesting!! Room was AWESOME and clean...

A true, hidden unspoiled gem

We like to find the most off the beaten path places possible to visit, away from the crowds, and Jerry's ranch definitely fit the bill. From the reviews I had an idea that this place would be amazing but it exceeded all expectations. Right away they welcome us into their home and we felt like we were staying with old friends, and enjoyed a hot tub under the stars, cards in the saloon together, and just overall great company. The place is definitely out in the middle of the desert and takes some time to get to, but it was totally worth it. We went on what we deemed the "Death March" off trail hike through mountains that had likely not been traversed by another human in decades. Tip: For a fun night in the saloon, ask Jerry to play a game of cards!

Amazing Ranch - Visit too Short

Reviewed By Rollo P

We drove from Las Vegas the day we arrived - in about 8.5 hrs - and a beautiful drive with great roads. The 30-mile drive from the highway to the ranch is on a good, gravel road can take about an hour. Very scenic so slow down and take a few pics. Note: RVs should make sure all bins and doors are sealed - as dust will find a way inside (and it did anyway.) We stayed in the ranch's RV park - space for about 12 vehicles. It was tucked under trees and in good condition. The night we stayed was just ourselves and a couple of others who were there for elk hunting. Owner Vicky stopped by to chat and to answer our questions about her and her husband's ranch. This was an exploratory stop for us (1 night, which was too short). We would come back for horseback riding and with our ATV and mountain bikes to take advantage of the many miles of Forest Service roads adjacent to their large ranch. We visited the horses - several were curious about us and came to the fence to say hello and to get a nose rub. Beautiful, strong-looking horses. Visited the lodge lobby; it was amazing. This working ranch and guest house is a hidden, out-of-the-way gem.

We stayed 2 nights while enjoying the area. There is not much around and this place is a nice surprise! We stayed in a king, bed was comfortable. The kitchenette was easy to use. We made dinner both nights with the meat from the market, it was good. The hot tub is lovely. We did loose power our last morning.

Beautiful Winter Weekend Escape

Reviewed By Janice Burnett

We just came back from a fantastic winter get away at The Seven Mile Canyon Ranch just outside of Virginia City. What a fabulous place it was. The kids and the dog had a blast playing in the snow and visiting the many animals on the ranch. My husband rode his ATV on the many trails available the snow made it even more fun for him and I enjoyed a short brisk walk into town for a little shopping in Virginia City. The hot tub at the ranch and the jacuzzi tub in our cabin were great to relax in. Our cabin was cozy and romantic with it's western theme and seperate bunk area for the kids. Our hosts the Sorensens made everything so welcoming and friendly we truely felt like part of the family. This place is very kid and dog friendly! Can't wait to go back with our friends this summer for our annual ATV riding trip.
