It was nice camp ground once, now trailer homes and bad service, terrible pool

Reviewed By jondoe99999

We have known this camp ground since the 1990ies. It was a simple but beautiful camp ground for tents. Now It seems, it is mainly a place for small trailer homes to rent. The places for tents the camp ground doesn't really seem to care about. Back then, there were solar panels all over the place (progressive!), today there are no visible renewable energy sources installed on the camp ground at all. All nuclear energy. The pool was beautiful with tiles in the 1990ies and there was a nice pool for children. Now the pool only has a PVC-plastic foil (containing harmful plastic softener agents) - and no pool for children at all any more. Also there are many lamps on the camp ground that make it impossible to appreciate the night sky and the stars. It is optimized for pensioners, it seems. Other problems: -Showers cold or way too hot -Pool water extremely dirty (cloudy, algae-green). Pool officially not accessible for campers! Why? (but nobody is checking) -Confusion about booking. Errors and misunderstandings and inflexibility with changes of booking -No help with electricity connection, wrong cable adapter given to us -Overall bad condition of some buildings/facilities, mold at some spots

Friendly Staff!

Although, the inn was a little difficult to find, I should have just driven a little further down the road — clearly marked with a sign, it was through a gate and down a tree-lined gravel path. The room that I had was nicely decorated, comfortable, and quiet. The proprietors invited me for an evening drink. The next morning the staff set out a nice breakfast and offered freshly cooked eggs. I just loved the bread and fresh coffee!

A hidden gem in Provence and great base

Reviewed By Figur-8

We just got back from 4 nights at this hotel in mid-September 2018. We (myself-40, my 66 year old mother and my infant son) were on a one week trip to France from the USA. We have traveled extensively in Europe and France, but this was the first time we've visited Provence. The hotel location is stunning, the price was very reasonable (around $100 per night), and I think the reviews here do not fully capture how lovely this place is. The biggest plus to this hotel is the beautiful and peaceful setting next to dramatic rocky cliffs and by a stream. The pool looked nice but it was too cool for us to swim (in September). We slept very well because the windows have lowering shades which are completely black-out shades. Highly recommend room #8, which is a large triple with lovely views. The hotel provided a crib (pack and play) for our baby. You absolutely need a car to stay here because the setting is slightly outside the town of Orgon. There is plenty of free parking. I selected this hotel location because we wanted a base from which to explore Avignon, Pont du Gard, the Camargue, Arles, and the Luberon, and this was a pretty good location roughly in the middle of all these things. With a rental car, you'll need small change (1-4 euros) to drive on toll highways around the area, though there are also smaller back roads. The town it's in (Orgon), doesn't make it into any guidebooks, but it actually has a lovely cathedral you should visit up high on the hill above the town, which has views of the whole region. We did this on our last morning and it was well worth the drive. The hotel's nice restaurant is small but seemed to be popular with locals. One night there was only one other table being served, and another night there were four tables having dinner. It felt very private. The two dinners we had were excellent and it was relaxing to come back "home" for dinner vice finding a new restaurant each evening. A big bonus for me was that because the restaurant was underneath the rooms (the place was quiet, never heard a peep), we could put my son to bed and enjoy an adult dinner downstairs while he slept. One night I mentioned it was my birthday, and the owner (who also served as the restaurant's sole waiter), had "happy birthday" written on my dinner plate, and brought my dessert with a "bonne anniversaire" on the plate. Each night there was a "menu" with a special of the day, and then an a la carte menu with 4-5 main choices. The family that owns the location does it all, running both the hotel and serving you in the restaurant at night (if you choose to eat there). The owner is very kind. One night we arrived back around 8:00pm and the family was having a birthday dinner outside for their teenage son around a long table. Even so, the owner came over to ask if we wanted to have dinner that evening in the restaurant (which would have meant he would have had to serve us)! We said, no thank you, we had eaten (thankfully so we didn't disturb them). I think this place would make a lovely honeymoon or couples trip, but it worked equally well with having a baby with us on our trip. Highly highly recommend!

Top B&B in the Provence

We really enjoyed our 4 days stay @ Isa & Ric. The place is beautiful, nice people, very good breakfast with local products, the rooms are perfect and clean. Orgon is close to multiple places that are worthwhile a visit: Les Baux de Provence for example. It is also only a 1 hour drive to the Camargue. I really recommend the place.
